I'm not exactly sure what I was going for in this song but I like the way it came out. 

A Metaphor for Bayou Living

Heute erlebt ihr einen etwas anderen Sonntagspodcast. Denn anstatt eine klassische Besprechung zum hochgelobten, aber doch recht nieschigen Metahpor ReFantazio (94 bei Metacritic!) zu machen, die mutmaßlich vor allem jene interessiert, die es eh schon gespielt haben, betrachten wir das Spiel vor seinem historischen Hintergrund – der Französischen Revolution. 

Denn obwohl Metaphor in einer fiktiven Fantasy-Welt spielt, sind die Parallelen zu einem der wahrscheinlich wichtigsten Ereignisse der Geschichte allgegenwärtig und politisch aktuell wie selten zuvor. Aus diesem Grund liefert das Spiel – auch wenn man gar nicht vorhat, es überhaupt zu spielen – hochspannenden Erzählstoff. 

Also geht‘s heute um Macht und Ideale, um Verschwörungstheorien, die tatsächlich wahr sind, um Köpfe, die von Hälsen getrennt werden und Revolutionen, die als Menschlichkeit beginnen und als unmenschlicher Terror enden. Und nebenbei auch noch um eines der besten Rollenspiele der letzten Jahre.

but that brief blow allows this whale
to take another breath
before returning 
to the dark blue life
that feeds us so well.

Today, I offer these lines
to all you other leviathans   
hoping you may remember:
even the strongest creature
must sometimes surrender
and rise to spout the deep water out
so that it won’t drown in the dark.

This lecture discusses key ideas from the 20th century philosophical short story writer, essayist, and poet Jorge Luis Borges's story "The Garden of Forking Paths" which can be found in Collected Fictions. It focuses on the narrative at the center of the larger story, the production of a labyrinth as a novel by Ts'ui Pen, and its translation, editing, and explanation by the sinologist Dr. Stephen Albert.

The Garden of Forking Paths is that novel, which appears to be contradictory, confused, a chaos, but which represents an image of the universe as Ts'ui Pen understands it, particularly in terms of the dimension of time, which is neither linear, nor cyclical, but a much more complex network of diverging, converging, and parallel timelines
