براساس برآوردها ۹۰ درصد موارد تعرض و تجاوز جنسی به‌ویژه به کودکان، از سوی اعضای خانواده یا آشنایان انجام می‌شود. آن‌چه در ادامه می‌شنوید روایت سیما، زنی ۳۹ ساله است که زمانی که تنها ۱۲ سال داشته، در خانه که امن‌ترین جا برای کودکان فرض می‌شود، به‌دست یک مرد بزرگسال مورد تعرض جنسی قرار گرفته است.

او می‌گوید این شانس را داشته که این تعرض را با خواهرش درمیان بگذارد و بتواند در ادامه به او تکیه کند اما تظاهر آزارگر جنسی به این‌که اتفاقی رخ نداده و در واقع سلب مسئولیت از خود در مقابل تبعات عملی که انجام داده، همچنان سیما را آزار می‌دهد. به گفته سیما تأثیر دیگر تعرض جنسی برای او این بوده که مرد متعرض توان اعتماد به دیگران را نیز در سیما خدشه‌دار کرده است.

اهمیت بازگو کردن روایت‌های تجاوز جنسی از زبان زنان، مردان و افراد کوییر سیلی محکمی به به صورت جوامع مردسالار است؛ جوامعی که در آن‌ها جامعه، قانون و عرف علیه فردی که به او تجاوز شده عمل می‌کند و بیش از آن‌که از بازمانده تجاوز حمایت کند، فرد متجاوز را که تحت مصونیت قرار می‌دهد. 

این صداهای بلند، خشمگین، ترس خورده… ایستادن شجاعانه‌ی آزاردیدگانی است که در مقابل تحجر، قدرت، مذهب و قوانین قد علم کرده اند. به امید روزی که با تکیه بر قانون هیچ انسانی به خود اجازه ندهد که بدن و تن دیگری را مورد تاخت و تاز و خشونت قرار دهد.

Anna Smith speaks to director Susan Seidelman about her highly anticipated new memoir, Desperately Seeking Something, as well as Rosanna Arquette, who starred in Seidelman's 1985 cult classic, Desperately Seeking Susan.

Anna begins by speaking to Susan Seidelman about her memoir and her recollections of working with Madonna and Rosanna Arquette. Susan talks about the explosion of Madonna’s stardom during filming, sharing some of her cherished memories from that time. She reflects on the enduring cultural impact of Desperately Seeking Susan as well as more broadly on her career.

Next, Anna speaks to Rosanna Arquette about her memories of starring in Desperately Seeking Susan. Rosanna talks about the celebrated female friendship between her and Madonna’s much-loved characters in the film, and how that translated into their off-screen friendship, sharing some of her hilarious highlights of working with Madonna. Rosanna also talks about the Time’s Up movement, discussing her powerful allyship with the other women who were amongst the first to speak out against Harvey Weinstein, and sharing insights into the monumental impact that it had on her life.

This podcast was recorded during a conference at FiraTàrrega festival (ESP) on September 6, 2024, in the context of the European Project SPEAK OUT, aiming at preventing all kinds of discrimination and gender-based violence in the circus sector.

3 years after the start of the 'Balance ton cirque' collective, what is the state of play? The European project SPEAK OUT, led by FEDEC - International network for professional circus education, is putting in place a two-year program of activities and training designed to equip the sector to be more caring and inclusive and to combat sexist and sexual violence. But is this enough to transform a sector? What impact will it have on institutions? And what repercussions will it have on the artistic form?

Virian began performing with a blues band in Southern California at an early age, but her musical journey was interrupted by a near-fatal experience, forcing her to withdraw from her community and seek refuge in her art.

In 2014, a chance encounter led to the creation of “1941 (feat. Virian)” by Klaypex, a track that soared on Spotify’s Electro Swing playlist. The success of 1941 reminded her that sharing her music could be a tool for healing.
