Why Pink? invites for this 16th episode of Chien De Temps the Russian artist @mi-croevkhas. 

Mi Croevkhas was born in Elektrostal, a small industrial town in Moscow Region and lived in Moscow for a long time. In 2022 (war on Ukraine and mobilization…) he moved to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and then to Almaty, Kazakhstan. Mi runs Different Fashion — a ‘dub continuum’ label and vinyl/ tape mix series dedicated to experimental (and traditional) forms of dub (and more) connecting artists from various places from Russia to Scotland to Jamaica. Mi Croevkhas’ own music released on Art-Aud (Milan), Mestnost (Moscow, as a part of Microdog duo), Mindery (Moscow/ London), 20 kbps (Zürich), and other labels. It was broadcasted on BBC Radio 6, Rinse FM, Noods, etc. He DJ’d and played live in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Berlin, Almaty, and Bishkek actively using Roland SP-404SX sampler — a long time instrument of choice came from 00’s beat scene and Ras G in particular (RIP). 

This mix is ​​a kind of consequence of what happened to me for the last couple of years. I still don’t have a place I can call home (not sure I felt like home in Russia as well, miss some things, places and people though). This may sound too epic but music is my home. Thanks to it, sometimes I can feel good, chat with people from various corners of the world and make local connections. Cutting the crap, here comes the mix. There are released and unreleased Different Fashion cuts, tracks from the labels fellow, stuff from the artists I don’t know personally but love their work, and an important bit of rap I heard in the childhood years. Remember: Rhythm-U can become your second breath or embodiment of the fond hopes.
