Rolling Stones - Sympathie For The Devil, #Niskens

"As Tears Go By" was one of the early compositions by Jagger and Richards; previously the Rolling Stones had chiefly been performing American blues and R&B tunes. By one account, Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham locked Jagger and Richards in a kitchen in order to force them to write a song together, even suggesting what type of song he wanted: "I want a song with brick walls all around it, high windows and no sex." The result initially was named "As Time Goes By", the title of the song Dooley Wilson sings in the film Casablanca. It was Oldham who replaced "Time" with "Tears".

mick jagger - god gave me everything (CL RMXX)

Michael in Warsaw sent me a phone recording of him doing a Leon Russell version of "Will Horses" by the Rolling Stones. I was traveling and had nothing other than a computer (no microphone). I played mandolin, box and then added bass using the laptop keypad. Sorry it's only root notes - that's all the letters I could figure out!

I have an ongoing collaboration since 2018 with my friend Michael who lives in both Poland and LA. In the summer of 2025, Michael had a series of sessions with professional musician Avi on both guitar and vocals. I did production work and added bass. Beautiful stuff. This is a version of the Rolling Stones song "No Expectations".
