Hi there,
I got an odd behaviour of µTonic. It keeps forgetting the registration every once in a while. I have to re-enter the serial that regularly, that I keep a txt containing the registration in my VST folder.Unfortunately I can't give more details on how to reproduce this.I hope this can be fixed soon or at least explained ;)Thanks in advance.

If not, then for some reason, you do not have access rights to write to the registry as needed. although I'm on Win7 I always run anything with admin rights. I also disabled the UAC on my machine. The registry key you mentioned is set and has two binary values, "Data" and "ssc2salt" and I guess one is supposed to contain the encoded registration.
I just opened µTonic again after looking in the registry and it was in demo mode again. I entered the reg details and the "Data" value changed.. I will keep track of it the next few weeks.The odd thing is that it doesn't loose the reg always, for a few weeks everything is fine and one day it's gone out of the blue. I'm an IT professional and know my computer well ;) - µTonic is the only VST that does this, even Synplant doesn't seem to have that problem.Btw. I would prefer if the reg data and config was written to a file anyway - though I'm on Win, I really hate the registry stuff. ;)R.A.W. 2012-01-07T23:58:34ZWell, this is odd..Today I once again had to enter the reg info... and this time

 in a row. I was working in Ableton, inserted the µTonic Drum Rack which uses the multi-out version and was asked for the reg again. I just didn't enter them but closed Ableton.Then I fired up energyXT (with admin rights, context menu run as admin), opened the single out version, entered the reg, restarted energyXT and tried multi and single out versions and everything was fine. Then I started Ableton again and inserted the drum rack and I was asked for the reg 
again
???!! I entered the reg, this time right away in Ableton and now it seems to work... well, at last for a few days..Is there any problem when using the single and multi out versions in turns?Btw.: I exported the registry entries before and after entering the reg data. Thanks!Normally it should be enough to click the stop button (twice if the pattern is currently running). If the pattern engine starts despite this, please check that you are not sending any MIDI notes that trigger patterns, usually middle-C and upwards. There is also a VST parameter that can automate the stop and start buttons, so that's another thing to check.Have you tried with a new clean project?edisonc 2012-09-18T03:38:08ZThanks Magnus! Yes, strangely, it seems like the first batch of patterns I had dragged to my Reaper track placed the notes somewhere around middle C and up, as you suggested. It's weird because other patterns in that drum patch did not occupy that same space when I drug those over, even though they used similar midi notes. By this I mean, it appears that pattern 'a' used notes around middle C and above, but patterns b, c, d, e - all used notes about an octave or so below that. Also strange, I don't get how that pattern would have been played properly in the first place since notes that get higher up in pitch no longer trigger the MicroTonic drum tones by default.Magnus Lidström 2012-09-18T13:39:30ZThe only explanation I can think of (except if it is a bug in MicroTonic) would be if you for some reason had a different MIDI map when you exported the first pattern? If you choose other MIDI keys than the standard C1 and up for the drum channels these will be used for the MIDI export too.

I recently experimented with the op-z and the microtonic. would be nice to have the engine inside of the op-z but till then (if ever) I tried this:
I uses the op-z as a midi controller on track 1-4 routing to a DAW (in my case reaper) created multiple instances of the u-tonic plugin - mapped carefully any 25 keys for Track 1-4 to utonic. basically for every key I have a utonic slot/sound.
After that I sampled all the keys. sliced them and used the drum utility to create the drum kit.
Tedious tasks but now I have my own created utonic sound on the op-z and in my DAW.
So I am able to create my stuff on the go with the op-z and later route the op-z to the DAW and having the same sound where I can continue to tweak to my liking.


You can export the midi file from microtonic to desktop/wherever, and this tool appears to correctly import the midi file. Have to be a bit careful about LPB as too few seems to bork things, but at least a deece temporary solution.

Has anyone ever tried to use the sonic charge microtonic software to recreate the original PO-20 arcade sounds? As the microtonic has a similar character (imho), and the PO-20 Arcade has been designed, after the release of the PO-32 Tonic, I wonder, if they created the sounds with microtonic.
I know, that the PO-20 Arcade has different effects and chord mode, but it would be interesting, if it would be possible to put the Arcade sound on the PO-32 with transfer.


This question is even more important to me. Are there hard limitations to not owning microtonic as far as what sounds you can get on the PO without using it? I know the interface is very different between the VST and the hardware but aside from that do they have feature parity?

of the OP-1 and it stood out as the most fun and unique product at the show. our first collaboration was the CWO effect for OP-1. 
now we present our biggest collaboration to date: PO-32 tonic.
it's great to be back together.



the goal with PO-32 was to squeeze the complex and highly acclaimed sound of microtonic into a pocket operator without compromising on quality. i spent months trying out imaginative dsp solutions and counting cpu cycles in order to come up with perfectly optimized recreations of the oscillators, filters and envelopes from the original micro tonic.
in the final product i'm using 99.99% of the pocket operator's cpu and memory. developing for a proprietary piece of hardware means that you are in full control of every single bit that it runs. if the user takes good care of the unit it could literally last a life-time.



PO-32 inherits the playful approach to music-making from the earlier pocket operators. owners of the PO-10 and -20 series will recognize the way you can record knob movements and effects on top of the beat. 
the 16 effects in PO-32 tonic are all simply tweaking the internal parameters of microtonic in weird ways and doing things like chopping up the beat, making it sound like bouncing balls etc. the effects are pretty extreme but still musically useful.



microtonic au/vst has tons of features, it's difficult or simply make no sense trying to squeeze all into the small pocket operator format. therefore i have designed them to complement each other as opposed to be 1:1 copies. 
you can craft your own unique sounds in microtonic, or download them e.g. from the sonic charge online rhyhtm-generator patternarium. then you send them over to PO-32 tonic (via the microphone without a cable) and take the machine on the road.

I put most of this together at the end of 2020 as a "test" project for MuLab 8 after making the decision to move to a 64-bit DAW. Then I forgot about it until a couple of months ago when I found it in one of my old project directories. The music was 90% complete, so I revived the project and made a few musical changes in Mulab 9, mixed and mastered it. It's quite slow and more than a little gloomy.
