According to Herodotus, the Persian king Cambyses II sent an army of 50,000 soldiers to threaten the Oracle of Amun at the Siwa Oasis around 524 BC. The soldiers were all killed on the way by a giant sandstorm in the middle of the Western Desert of the Sahara. This tale was the inspiration for this song.

Cult Of Mithras

The Dortmund based guitarist Sarg Usuk, originally starting out as a student of classical guitar, weaves together electric and acoustic guitar with synthesizer pads and combines influences from a wide variety of styles from all over the world, creating a unique repetition of sound with a strong Middle Eastern flavor. Together with Dings e.V. he is also the organizer of the “Soundscapes” series, which provides a stage for international, diverse music by local musicians from Dortmund and the surrounding area.

Leat Sabbah is a multi-genre Cellist, performer and producer. This year Leat has been featured with her band Gulaza at WOMEX, hailed by BBC Sounds as “the most extraordinary and talked about concert in WOMEX 2018.” Her debut offering as a solo artist, “Music in the Quiet Room”, is set to come out this March, making 2020 an eventful year, with concerts scheduled at major world music festivals in Poland, Slovenia, Hungary, Switzerland, and Sweden.
