This one started off as a simple loop. I wanted to write some words and a melody and flesh out a song for it, but when I started to sing all I could hear in my head were the first lines from Midnight Rain. This song immediately stood out to me. Maybe because it was so eerily similar to another one of her songs that I instantly and obsessively fell in love with many years ago. It felt only natural for me to try them out together.

Robert was born in Tucson, AZ and found a love for music when he was young. He started singing in church at the age of eight. And started teaching himself to play guitar at 13. In high school Robert began writing music and performing in local contests. He won two contests which resulted in him opening at a concert put on by a local radio station (99.5 KIIM FM) and at Country Thunder where he sang God Bless America prior the one of the opening acts (Sugar Land) in 2007. 

In 2010 he began playing in a three man band at a local bar and smokehouse and writing songs with his best friend. In 2011 he competed in KIIM FM’s local talent contests during which he made it to the finals. After getting married in December 2011 he moved to South Carolina where he hung up his guitar and began serving his local community as a Law Enforcement Officer. 

While serving Robert lost his connection with music as he began fighting the demons that come along with serving as a first responder. In 2020 while battling, PTSD, Depression, and Anxiety Robert bought a new guitar and wrote “Midnight Rain” in 15 minutes. It was the first time he had gotten some of the memories from Law Enforcement out of his head and down on paper as a way of sharing what was eating at him inside. Robert performed that song publicly for the first time in October of 2020 for a group of Military Veterans who urged him to record the song and share it. 

Since then Robert has begun writing, and performing again.

Model 16 started as singer and producer Katelyn Mundal’s fantasy of pop superstardom during a time of solitude and long, rainy nights in Stavanger, Norway.
