Voice of Migration:  Kicking Off the Future of Communication

Durante más de diez años, el número de inmigrantes indocumentados que vivían en Estados Unidos casi no cambió. 

Pero según un nuevo análisis del Migration Policy Institute, esta población de inmigrantes indocumentados ha aumentado hasta alcanzar los 13.7 millones de personas a mediados de 2023, lo que supone un incremento de 3 millones desde el 2019.

Esta población no solo ha crecido, dice el reporte, sino que también se ha diversificado. Así que para hablar de este reporte, invitamos a Ariel Ruiz, uno de los coautores y quien se desempeña como analista de políticas en el Migration Policy Institute.

Eure Wut ist echt.

die im Krankenhaus warten, bis der Schmerz zu groß wird.

Die Goldman-Sachs-Chefin hat die Kolonialbank im Blut,

Die letzte Bastion des Kolonialismus, wenn die alten Kolonialverwalter fallen,

Sie mobben Muslime, so wie sie es damals mit den Juden taten –  
die AfD an der Macht, das wird ein Niedergang auf Raten.

Camp Moria was in 2020 the biggest refugee camp in Europe, with about 20k people living in the space designed for no more the 2.8k inhabitants. After in covid-times a doubled fence was planned it was set on fire. Six young men were arrested and accused, but in the end released for lack of proofs.

In 2024 Jennifer Mallman filmed a documentary portraing the events of september 2020 in Moria and questioning the EU-policy regarding refugee migration.

This track is based on recordings of a panel discussion after the screening, reflecting the main lines of reasoning in the film.

This episode brings together Dr Hyab Teklehaimanot Yohannes, Lecturer in Forced Migration and Decolonial Education (UNESCO Chair RILA, University of Glasgow) and author of The Refugee Abyss and Dr Teresa Piacentini (School of Social and Political Sciences, University of Glasgow), sociologist and author of Developing a Critical Pedagogy of Migration Studies: Ethics, Politics and Practice in the Classroom.
