Réfugiés, migrants, clandestins... Les mots pour décrypter les phénomènes migratoires sont nombreux et souvent connotés. Dans ce numéro de Coffee and Expertease, Laura Clabrese (linguiste, ReSIC, Faculté de Lettres, Traduction et Communication) et Mathilde Du Jardin (juriste, Centre de recherches pénalité, sécurité & déviances, Faculté de Droit et de Criminologie, Université libre de Bruxelles) discutent, le temps d'un café, de cette problématique.

Coffee and Expertease : réfugiés, des termes juridiques au langage populaire

L'Université libre de Bruxelles est une université complète couvrant toutes les disciplines et tous les cycles d'études.

Forte de ses 24 000 étudiants dont 30% d'origine étrangère et d'un personnel lui aussi très cosmopolite, l'ULB est intrinsèquement internationale, ouverte à l'Europe et au monde.

Avec quatre prix Nobel, une médaille Fields, 3 prix Wolf, deux prix Marie Curie et 29% des prix Francqui attribués, l'ULB est également une grande université de recherche reconnue par la communauté académique mondiale.

Engagée, elle rencontre ses responsabilités sociales, sociétales et scientifiques, en combinant un enseignement de large accès à une recherche de très haut niveau.

Volontaire, elle est une actrice importante du développement économique des régions où elle est implantée. L'ULB dispose par ailleurs d'un vaste réseau hospitalier comprenant l'hôpital académique Érasme, l'institut de cancérologie Jules Bordet et des centres hospitaliers situés dans toute la Wallonie.

Depuis une dizaine d'années, l'ULB s'est engagée dans des activités de valorisation de la recherche, à Bruxelles et à Charleroi où elle a déployé le Biopark Charleroi Brussels South autour de l'Institut de biologie et de médecine moléculaires (IBMM) et de l'Institut d'immunologie médicale (IMI).

En termes d'alliances, l'Université libre de Bruxelles fait partie de l'Académie universitaire Wallonie-Bruxelles avec l'Université de Mons. Elle forme également avec 5 Hautes écoles,l'École royale militaire et 4 établissements supérieurs d'enseignement artistique, le Pôle universitaire européen de Bruxelles Wallonie. Elle a noué des partenariats privilégiés avec des établissements prestigieux des quatre coins du monde.

Université privée, reconnue et subsidiée par les pouvoirs publics, l'ULB reçoit une allocation de fonctionnement gouvernementale qui correspond aujourd'hui à la moitié de son budget.

Fondée sur le principe du libre examen qui postule l'indépendance de la raison et le rejet de tout dogme, l'ULB est restée fidèle à ses idéaux originels : une institution libre de toute tutelle, engagée dans la défense des valeurs démocratiques et humanistes (y compris dans son mode de gouvernance).
