Ghost Sparks

In class we discussed the compositional concept of phasing and cellular composition. Building off these Ideas I made an incredibly simple cell of [E G B E] and put it across 4 electronic instruments such that the cell started a quarter note off from another electronic instrument. Then I stretched one midi note of one of the notes in one instrument slowly over time such that the cells fell back into time with each other. Eventually I switch the harmonic elements to a [B D G B] Cell to signal a change into the B section of the piece where the melody is developing a bit more. Then I start to take the original melodic phrase and start to rhythmically phase it with itself an octave down in the return to the A section which in combination with the slow crescendo throughout the piece results in that climactic ending.

Alternating between C locrian and C diminished. Made with VCV Rack, Audacity and Ardour. The title is a reference to the 2019 sci-fantasy novel Gideon the Ninth (first book of The Locked Tomb series), by Tamsyn Muir.

The Sun Had Closed The Winter's Day

Performed by me on a grand piano and recorded with my Zoom H1n as a first test, results were stunning! Arrangement and sound design by me, composition by @caaverrn . I have some Primo EM272's coming in that should allow an even broader sonic field compared to this, so there will be another version. Expect works over the next couple months to be experimentation with recording, mixing, and mastering techniques.

Hello! My name is Roman Gorielov. I am a musician from Ukraine. I fell in love with music when I was a child when I heard the album "Revolver" by The Beatles. The melody was magical and so in 1998 I started learning to play the acoustic guitar. 

In 2004 I graduated from a classical guitar music school and together with my classmates founded a band called Teatr Violy. We performed in local clubs, recorded at studios, and also were on radio and television. 

Since 2008 I have been taking part in the recording of Sunchild and Karfagen albums by my friend Antony Kalugin. Here I performed acoustic, electric and nylon guitars and sometimes backing vocals. During this period we participated at several prog-rock festivals in Europe. France in 2009, Holland in 2010, Belgium in 2013, France again in 2014 and 2017... The experience was amazing and rewarding. 

Since 2017 I started doing solo work: I compose, perform and record music myself in my studio using only live acoustic guitars. I can describe my music as melodic and emotional instrumental compositions with a gentle, soulful and lyrical mood. I am glad if you are interested in my music and I wish you all the best!
