"Caravan" is a groundbreaking jazz composition written by Puerto Rican trombonist Juan Tizol and first performed and popularized by the legendary Duke Ellington Orchestra in 1936. The song is known for its exotic, driving rhythm and mysterious, “Eastern” flavor, achieved through chromatic harmony, modal melodies, and unusual percussion. "Caravan" became a jazz standard almost instantly, and its intoxicating, adventurous spirit continues to captivate musicians and listeners alike.

The composition stands out in the jazz repertoire for blending swing with Middle Eastern and Latin influences, often featuring hypnotic drum grooves and improvisational flights. Over the years, "Caravan" has been interpreted by everyone from Art Blakey and Thelonious Monk to Wes Montgomery and Ella Fitzgerald—its flexible form lending itself equally well to wild big band arrangements and intimate small group settings.

"So What" is a landmark jazz composition by legendary trumpeter Miles Davis, introduced as the opening track on his groundbreaking 1959 album Kind of Blue. This tune is widely regarded as one of the most influential pieces in jazz history, representing the essence of modal jazz—a style that favors scales and modes over traditional chord changes, offering musicians more freedom for melodic improvisation.

Written by Davis and featuring an iconic ensemble—including John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers, and Jimmy Cobb—“So What” is built on a simple call-and-response theme and a 32-bar AABA form. Its main motif, played by the bass, is instantly recognizable, and the tune’s Dorian modal structure encourages spacious, introspective solos that have captivated generations of jazz musicians and listeners.

Nenĭa Iră est un projet fondé par Aurélia Nardini, qui revisite la notion de “musiques populaires” en frayant son chemin entre traditions, paysages électroniques et chansons pop.

Après un premier LP solo sorti en 2022 chez Vlad, elle s'entoure de Saskia Waledisch puis de François Le Roux (Selen Peacock, Belvoir). Ensemble, la musique prend de nouveaux virages et rappelle Tarta Relena, Daniela Pes ou encore Cocanha.

Artiste protéiforme basée à Marseille, Aurélia tire de son enseignement aux beaux-arts une approche transversale, se formant autant à la composition électroacoustique qu’aux musiques modales occitanes (formation Caminaires #1).

Jouant avec les timbres de ses bourdons rythmiques (tambourin à cordes, shrutibox) et des pratiques vocales issues des musiques traditionnelles modales  occitanes, elle les ancre dans un paysage électronique fait de glitch et de field recording qui révèle le potentiel cathartique de sa musique.

Sa voix scandant l'émotion pure en français révèle des strates intimes et puissantes, soutenue par les cordes basses du violoncelle.

En 2025, elle est artiste associée à la Cité de la Musique de Marseille, où elle jouera la première de création de son nouvel album, le 12 décembre 2025. 

Ce deuxième LP, “Remonte le courant”, sortira en 2026 sur le label Vlad.  Il est co-réalisé par François Le Roux, avec Saskia Waledisch au violoncelle et Chris Canot (Confuse) au mixage.
