This is my entry for the Disquiet Junto prompt #0651, proposed by George E. Lewis, and centred on computer-generated improvisation (well, it is a bit more fundamental than that but let us keep it brief here).

Here is a short musical piece, where a base generative stochastic line is produced by a monophonic analog synthesizer playing a brassy, low-register sound, while a more deliberate, human-composed harmonic context is played on a polyphonic digital synthesiser.

The title of the piece is "Melodicing Mother", for a technical reason that many geeks will recognise. First, "Mother" here stands for "Mother 32", the Moog-produced semi-modular synthesizer, which plays the base, random, brassy line here (while I played the so-called polyphonic harmonic "context" on my trusty Arturia MicroFreak).
The "Melodicing" part in the title refers to a now famous Eurorack module created by Vermona, the so-called MeloDICER. That module allows the musician to assign given probabilities to a series of user-defined notes (or pauses), and let the module generate a melody by itself (here also, I am making it short, the module is more elaborate than that).
I do not own a MeloDICER, but I realised that several programming perks native to the Mother 32 enabled it to respond very much like a MeloDICER under the right conditions, hence the title ... "Melodicing Mother".

Namely, here, I set up the generative part by choosing a mode I liked, and by assigning different, fixed probabilities to each note of that mode with variations (a note can be brief, long, sustained until the next one or played staccato), along with probabilities for pauses of various lengths. Letting the synthesiser run for a couple of minutes, I then extracted several 10-15 second-long parts that I liked, assembled them and used the final melody as a base to compose a harmonic context using a pad sound.

Roussa, a🇧🇪 DJ/Producer with a passion for electronic music since he was 8 years old. With early influencers from the 70's and 80's this guy was destined to end up behind any electronic keyboard or device. Growing up in the 80's/90's where Pop and New Beat were a few of the founding building blocks of the electronic music now is based on could only strengthen his passion. Roussa, also known as a DJ, played in clubs in The Netherlands and Belgium and on several editions of the City Parade in Belgium. Going from Electro House to Progressive House, Techno to Trance and many more. This producer can handle a lot of styles, but more specifically he tries to have it's own style. His style is a slight part of drama with nice pumping beats and basses you can feel shivering through your body.
