(Getting this out of the way--NO, this is STILL not the track I'd planned on dropping a few days ago...and, like Shadeur Sanders, it keeps getting passed over again and again.  However, I did promise I'd drop it this weekend--so, I guess I know what track I'm dropping tomorrow!)  

"I'll take 'References Only I Get' for 300, Ken."
The answer is:  Before this Phil Collins hit song begins, this music video features a discussion between Phil and a snobby, pretentious music video director--based on Russell Mulcahey--and, instead of having a conversation, they simply toss names of Western movies and actors at each other until they agree and say the same name, "MAL CRAGGS!" at the same time.

(Mal Craggs, by the way, was Phil's tour manager--from what I've read.)  

So...let us play the same game that Phil and the video director did in that video.  I'll say a bunch of song titles and you try to narrow in on the sound I was going for with today's Interbay track.

...the last one gives the game away.  What I was trying to do was create a song that reminded me of the late 70s/early 80s New Romantic/New Wave/Synth Pop songs that were influenced by Georgio Moroder, specifically "I Feel Love".  (The list gets fuzzier as it goes down, until you get to "I Feel Love")  

By adding guitars to hi-nrg/disco/synth pop...you get Ultravox...and you get the kind of music I've always wanted to make.  

"European Man" definitely paints with an Ultravox-y brush.  (It still ends up looking like a Jackson Pollack painting of Interbay, but...the intent...should be clear.)  

I could use your help in getting the word out about this crazy Interbay music project.

"It's a twister!  It's a twister!"  

It certainly is--and it is the last track to be produced and uploaded while on this year's summer adventures.  The Phantom Laboratories West mobile unit is getting packed up and I'll be flying back to Seattle late this evening (possibly even early in the morning.)  Because of that, I thought it prudence to publish this track now, rather than risk messing up my consecutive days posting a brand new Interbay track.  

(It is almost 6am here in Lakeville.  I should be trying to get some rest, but the Interbay work never really ends.)  

So, we have a rather pleasant synth pop tune that gets harder and harder as it goes along, until we're somewhere between acid house and hard house--all with a distinctly digital edge.  

In this you'll be instructed to get down...and to stomp your feet.  It would be wonderful if you did as you were told, but only if you're feeling it.  

There's definitely tornado activity in the region of the Phantom Laboratories West mobile unit, and those cyclonic winds definitely make their presence known on this track...which swirls in all the right ways.  (And, to celebrate the power of dance music to drop a house on a witch, somewhere over the rainbow, this track includes some vary memorable moments curated from a classic.  Even without Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, you should be able to pick up on the idea fairly quickly.  

Peversely, as is so often the case, the thumbnail image suggests a theme or a central perspective, while the samples in the song itself point to a slightly different target, just off center.  It makes it fun (I think, at least.)  

OK.  I'm hitting the upload button now before catching a few more bites of sleep.  It has been a fun trip, but I will be happy to get back to where I once (and hopefully always will) belong and to put everything in its proper place.

"Blows Me Away" *SoundCloud Exclusive*

Back, safe, home...again.  However, today's track is one that was crafted while on the road, using the Phantom Laboratories West mobile unit--so, if you don't like this one...blame Wisconsin and/or Minnesota.

But, if you tend to like Interbay tracks, you should like this one.  (I know, I do.)  

"...after adjusting for sex."  

I think all of the typical influences on Interbay tracks are on display here--an 80s synth vibe with house beats and break beats, harsh industrial tones, Prince-like synth horns, oddly inhuman spoken word vocals presenting sample phrases to help someone understand an underused word better.  

Oh, like yesterday's track, a Giorgio Moroder-y italo robo disco bassline section drops in out of (seemingly) nowhere.  (Seemingly?  I mean, it comes from my brain--my neurodivergent/ADHD riddled brain. ;) )   

...and dj scratches (just for some sprinkles on top of the ice cream.)  

So...yeah, pretty standard Interbay stuff here.

I think this is a fun, upbeat, energetic track...perfect for getting ready for a friday full of nocturnal adventures (or, even, just driving around--as I did get the chance to listen to some Interbay tracks in the car--thanks to Bluetooth and a rental car that didn't have SiriusXM available for it...and Interbay can make an evening drive a lot more fun.  (Although, I may have a personal bias and your mileage may vary.  Still, couldn't hurt to try it!  :) )  

As always, I would ask that you give "Volumetric" a listen--and a like, a repost, consider sharing it or leaving a comment on it or adding it to a playlist (if you do, I'll consider going back to using Oxford commas again)...and, my BIGGEST ask, would be for you to follow this page for more Interbay.  (Did you know that never-before-heard Interbay tracks are posted here EVERY SINGLE DAY--so far!--and have done so for over a year consecutively?  That sounds really impressive, but it also means that it would take 17 days--my favorite Prince song, actually--to listen to every Interbay track here on SoundCloud...that's probably too much...)

Oro - Tribute #7 : Daft Punk

So named because it was written with Dave the guitarist round his place - which was on a road called elephant stairs or something. 
This was at the end if a session where we’d recorded lots of uptempo electric guitar stuff. And then just jammed on a couple of keyboards with a backing beat. It would have been 2009 I think or early 2010. 

15+ years later, I actually couldn’t tell you who did which keyboard part!  But have added guitars, vocals and grinned it down from its rather excessive 8 mins.

ALFRESH – House music is my specialty. 

🌴 I dropped my first mix at just 13 years old with nothing more than one turntable, a Radio Shack mixer, and a boombox. Unconventional, sure—but that raw start shaped me into the energetic, technical DJ I am today.

Beyond DJing, I’ve spent years in music production, earning over 20 credits in the dance music industry. My releases span respected labels including Aqua Boogie Records (LA), Groovilicious / Strictly Rhythm, Music Drive, and George Acosta’s Waxhead Records (Strictly Rhythm).

I’ve also hosted two radio mix shows featuring guest DJs, and I’ve played across Florida, Los Angeles, and Annapolis, MD—always bringing deep energy and passion for house music to every set. The DJ's

London based DJ/Producers Stretch & Vern have been two of the most recognised names in global dance music since they exploded onto the scene in 1996 with their worldwide hit 'I'm Alive', which was released on the iconic FFRR records. Their energetic DJ sets have seen them DJ at the worlds biggest clubs, Celebrity weddings, Fashion parties and film premiers. Their residencies and regular gigs include, Ministry of Sound, Manumission (Ibiza/Privilege & Space sets), GateCrasher, Matrix (Berlin), The Playboy WMC party (Miami), Germany's infamous Love Parade & Mayday Festivals, Cream, The Zap & Honey Clubs in Brighton & tours of Australia and Europe to name but a few…
Their DJ style over the years has always been based around disco infused, cool funky house music. Their recent DJ mix which was broadcast on the Loose Cannons Radio show on London's Kiss FM  was punctuated with their own productions and tracks from their favourite producers from the current nu disco scene. We are talking groovy disco music that just makes you want to dance……
  

The Producers

Stretch & Vern have been producing their own brand of house music for over 15 years now. Hightlights include 'I'm Alive' by Stretch & Vern feat Maddog. As well as selling over half a million singles, 'I'm Alive' featured on Coca Cola advert campaigns, was Radio One A-listed for over two months and has stayed on the airwaves ever since.  Ministry of Sound re released 'I'm Alive' this year with fresh new remixes from the likes of Louis La Roche, Tom Starr & Drum & Bass powerhouses Bcee & Mr Mess. Already featured on the MOS compilations The Annual 2011 & The Clubbers Guide 2011, and with DJ support from such icons as Pete Tong, Annie Mac & Annie Nightgale the track has been exposed to a whole new generation of clubbers and dance music fans.
Their own 'private' edits of the likes of Radiohead & Kings of Leon have seen the boys name checked on the Radiohead website and has taken their music into the hands of such respected DJ's as Sasha, Digweed & Nick Warren. 
Their prolific studio output has seen them collaborate and write for a whole host of artists and producers. Under different guises the boys have released records under such pseudonyms as ColourSound (Great Stuff Records), Reflekt (Positiva), and with the Grammy winning band 'Dirty Vegas' who featured on the boys single 'Love Me Better' under their 'EssenVee' guise on Pieces of 8 Records. 
Over the years the boys have remixes such iconic acts as Pulp, Robbie Williams, Westbam & St.Etienne. Their current studio work includes a remix for DIrty Vegas for the fourth single of their brand new 'Electric Love' album  for OM records. A collaboration with the legendary Sam Obernik (this could be the next Stretch & Vern single!!). And a whole host of brand new Stretch & Vern Productions.
