Near the tail end of 2022, Colorado-based @motifvmusic and @late-night-radio hit the studio together in a collaborative exploration of mutual inspiration, crafting a number of tracks - the first of which, “Hold On”, is streaming now on all platforms.

For most any listener, the shared influences of gospel, soul, and hip-hop progressions are immediately apparent in the artists’ collaborations. Described by Late Night Radio and Motifv as a “track that makes you want to hug yourself,  “Hold On” serves as a hopeful, meditative reprise for the listener, a time to reflect and find solace in our fortitude when life is overcast and rumbles of thunder resound in our minds.

More than just an EP, it's a reflection of personal growth - a blend of vulnerability and the boldness to venture into new territories. The course of this adventure is charted through each track, beginning with the spark of departure, navigating through the richness of experiences and emotions, to finally pondering the intentions behind my creative destination. This project and its forthcoming companion release illustrate a journey from external explorations to inward quests. It's a narrative of transformation, embracing the changes that come with moving from light into darkness and finding our way back again. This release marks my most intentional and vulnerable release to date, and a real-time reflection of my life and the emotions and experiences that are shaping it.

Volume 1 came out just over a year ago, and started as a simple dj mix that outlined my favorite music, sound and overall vibe. The music that moves me physically and emotionally, more than most. It got such great feedback that I’ve decided to make a series out of these mixes. Each one will not only showcase various mixing techniques of mine, but also the emotions and feelings deep within me at the time of recording, while continuing to stay true to the style that I started with. ‘Behind the Moon’ stands as a reflective companion to 'Where the Sun Sets', encapsulating both a conclusion and a beginning of a new Motifv chapter. While building on the themes present in Where the Sun Sets, this EP delves deeper into introspection and explores the moments of solitude and contemplation we all face. Echoing the natural phenomenon of the total solar eclipse occurring on April 8th, this companion EP explores the metaphorical interplay of light and shadow in our lives. During an eclipse, the moon obscures the sun, casting a shadow that envelops us in a momentary darkness—a powerful reminder for us of the cycles of hiding and revelation. Where the Sun Sets / Behind the Moon represent a unified journey through self-discovery and evolution, inspired by the worldwide experience of transition soon taking place above.
