"Earthly matter(s)" is a project dedicated to art, science and somatics.

This project is an attempt to use somatics as a bridge to other disciplines - to bring the body with its layered and political felt experience into the discourse within other disciplines. It specifically looks at natural phenomena, ecosystems and other species for aquiring knowledge and practices, which support us humans to stir away from the toxic, violent and extractive culture of capitalism and learn to come into balance with the larger earthly ecosystem again, of which we depend on.

Some thoughts on somatics:
For me somatics is a form of care, a practice of unlearning and relearning, of being present in what arises. It is a practice that puts the body at the centre as a place of experiencing, processing and creating. 
Somatics is also a practice of slowing down - slowing down from the speed of everyday life, society and culture. Deceleration creates space, space to sense, to feel, to arrive, to listen and hear, to see and be seen, to show vulnerability, to question, to stir up, to resist, to dig up and dig around, to discover, uncover and cover up. To change perspective. To grow. 
Making and re-making connections. In the sensing and slowing down, space and time will emerge, to imagine, to crystallise, to try things out, to re-sort, to get involved, to recharge and release, to act, to move and be moved, to fantasise and speculate, to become active, to become critical and remain critical. To create.

Somatics is a practice of love - for oneself, for others and for the earth.
