"Stalker Ballad" is a deeply troubling country-blues ballad that portrays the disturbing thoughts and actions of a dangerous, obsessed stalker. The song begins as what appears to be a sad breakup story but quickly descends into a much darker narrative.
The song follows a narrator's psychological deterioration from initial heartbreak through stalking behaviors (watching through windows, going through trash) to increasingly violent and criminal actions. The lyrics reveal that the narrator has kidnapped, restrained, and assaulted the subject of their obsession, with clear indications of sexual violence and eventual murder.
Musically, the production utilizes elements of Gothic Americana and dark country, with mournful slide guitar and haunting harmonica that create an uneasy atmosphere fitting the disturbing narrative. The instrumental breaks become increasingly dissonant and menacing as the story grows more violent.
The final chorus removes any ambiguity about the narrator's actions and intentions, revealing plans for the victim's murder and burial. This content is extremely unsettling and portrays severe criminal behavior.

Delia is a traditional blues murder ballad that has been memorably recorded by a few well known artists, like Bob Dylan, Blind Willie McTell and David Bromberg. My version is heavily inspired by the mournful version recorded by Bromberg in 1971. I have added a couple of new touches in this version. 

I recorded and produced all elements, with key performances on electric guitar, harmonica and vocals, including playing the role of jury foreman and the judge. 

This is one track in a larger project I’m hoping to complete in the coming months, focused on blues tunes that mostly lives on the fringes of the genre but still reverent to it.

Oh, there are strange things done in the midnight sun
By the men who moil for gold;
The Arctic trails have their secret tales
That would make your blood run cold;
The Northern Lights have seen queer sights,
But the queerest they ever did see
Was that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge
I cremated Sam McGee
Now Sam McGee was from Tennessee,
where the cotton blooms and blows
Why he left his home in the South to roam
'round the Pole, God only knows.
He was always cold but the land of gold
seemed to hold him like a spell;
Though he'd often say in his homely way
that he'd sooner live in Hell. Woo-hoo!
On a Christmas Day we were mushing our way
over the Dawson trail.
Talk of your cold! through the parka's fold
it stabbed like a driven nail.
If our eyes we'd close, then the lashes froze
till sometimes we couldn't see,
It wasn't much fun, but the only one
to whimper was Sam McGee.
And that very night, as we lay packed tight
in our robes beneath the snow,
And the dogs were fed, and the stars o'erhead
were dancing heel and toe,
He turned to me, and "Cap", says he
"I'll cash in this trip, I guess;
And if I do, I'm asking that you
won't refuse my last request."
Well, he seemed so low that I couldn't say no;
then he says with a sort of moan,
"It's the cursed cold, and it's got right hold
till I'm chilled clean through to the bone
Yet 'taint being dead-it's my awful dread

On the pace of old steam trains, hidden away in one of the empty boxcars, Lucky travels through the Rocky Mountains. By his side is an old, broken and worn out guitar. Before he climbs aboard some other train in search of new adventures, he picks up his guitar and he sings. In a bluesy tone, he sings his folk songs about lonely people, dancing girls or ghosts wandering along the banks of the Mississippi... 

Lucky Came to Town is a band from Louvain (Belgium) who mixes alt-country, roots, blues and folk.

Influenced by songwriter as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Earle, Townes van Zandt but also contemporary singer-songwriters such as Ryan Adams, Jason Isbell, Dave Rawlings or Josh Ritter. Add the same dark and somber tone from Tom Waits of Felice Brothers and you will come close to the sound of Lucky Came to Town.
