Funk collective FSQ shares new remix of DJ Pippi & Willie Graff’s Balearic hit

The group put masterful organic spin on the original, elevating the sweet electro-Balearic grooves through an addition of pure boogie material. The version comes as part of a remix pack of Pippi & Graff’s 2024 album Universal Language.
 
FSQ (Funk Style Quality) is a six-man funk production team comprising Sa’d ‘The Hourchild’ Ali, Chuck ‘Da Fonk’ Fishman, Morgan Wiley, One Era, Chas Bronz and G Koop. The group has been releasing music since 2014.

The new version comes as part of a full album of Acoustic Live Recordings by the Brazilian singer and mult-instrumentalist.
 
Rodrigo Sha says about the release:
 
”The song was the first single and music video from Sha & Copenema. This track fully synthesizes our energy, as we blend sounds and create a distinct identity in our creative process between Rio de Janeiro and Copenhagen and beyond. I decided to make an acoustic version to bring our audience closer to the essential core of this composition.”
 
Copenema is the collaborative project masterminded by Brazillian singer and multi-instrumentalist Rodrigo Sha. The essence of the music is Brazilian, yet Sha takes it
on a route from the samba and bossa-nova of Rio de Janeiro to the Balearic Beat of
Ibiza – by way of the northern city of Copenhagen where the Music For Dreams label
and many of the album’s collaborators are based.

Tiger Stripes says: “Boy George is such an icon and hero for me personally, so when being asked to remix his and Walther's track, it really was a no brainer.”
 
The Swedish remix specialist brings the track halfway to deep house territory, cutting up Boy George’s vocals against a shuffling groove that recalls his acclaimed work for underground imprints such as Drumcode, Hot Creations, Knee Deep in Sound, Truesoul, Desolat labels.
 
The original track will feature on WALTHER’s forthcoming debut album. The rising Danish DJ and producer is currently resident at Blue Marlin and Beachhouse Ibiza and has played Woomoon.Woomoon.

Greek electronic artist Achilleas Dimitracopoulos continues his enigmatic output under the CheapEdits moniker with his second album on Music For Dreams.
 
Bleak Poetry comprises eight tracks of mystical, hypnotic grooves that deepen and blossom through a mix of acoustic and electronic elements. We move from dreamy fourth world sounds to silky electro and flowy post-rave textures, exploring the territory but never fully departing the Balearic mythology of lapping waves and transcendent sunsets.
 
CheapEdits’ previous work includes the 2021 album Nuit Electrique and the 2023 EP Cozmika. The artist is based on the island of Corfu.
