This is a very energetic and bumpy mix, sample heavy, but with a feelgood vibe. Less thinking, more dancing and throwing all this together. I didn't have a conventional "white kid" childhood. My mom's idol was Diana Ross and she loved everything Motown. We would watch Soul Train and have our own little dance parties in our basement. I was particularly drawn to Jody Watley's evolution on that show and eventually her career as a whole with Shalamar and ultimately her solo work so it's incredible to have her support for my remixes of several of her tracks.

 I have been equally blown away to receive support from Esthero and Lady Miss Kier, artists I've loved from the get-go and had a huge impact on me as a queer kid making soulful music. This mix honours these women as well a several men who's discographies continue to inspire me like Theo Parrish, Marcelus Pittman, Nick Holder and Moodyman. I'll never forget being 16 years old when my dad took us on our first trip to Detroit. I had several hundred dollars saved up from my part-time job...spotted a specialty record store, got him to drop me off and pick me up  2 hours later after blowing ALL of my money on all kinds of amazing records. This mix highlights Dj's, musicians and artists that continue to inspire me and shape my musical education/appreciation.

Thanks for checking me out. I use music as a form of self-expressive therapy. I'm not really interested in being a public figure/celebrity etc. I do however enjoy creating soundscapes in hopes to write music for independent film projects, soundtracks for physical performers to unleash to, and everything in between. I'm inspired by so many incredible artists, it's sometimes too much for me to take in, but it's what keeps me going in this fucked up, and sometimes beautiful world. Music for me is an art-form. I particularly enjoy "remixing" artists I respect and appreciate artistically. I prefer to refer to my "remixes" as interpretations and I always try to challenge the architecture of a song but always respecting the foundation...it's also a way of saying "thank you" for bringing some kind of pleasure to my life.
