As usual it’s a real good time. This heavy and sleazy stomper has become a de facto Cong Josie theme, a calling card and manifesto in his raving live sets. The rhythm gallops, bucks and pounds like a motorised bull. Western overlays of heart tugging steel guitar lift and dip. While Cong wrestles with himself; self-loathing vs self-promotion.

The second single from Cong Josie’s imminent sophomore album Moto Zone, chugs and throbs harder than any road train worth its salt. In fact, this slab of revving post-industrial boogie may as well have ‘A Mad Max Saga’ as its sub-title. Sure enough, Hot Hot Motor sounds like the scraps of rock’n’roll history pieced together in a post-apocalyptic southern land. Referencing, David Essex’s ‘Rock On’ (itself a refashioned fantasy of rock’n’roll) and the hunk-o-burnin-love King himself. Cong tells a cautionary tale about how living on hi-octane kicks can only end in tears. Sobs and throbs are the order of the day here. 

Of course it’s autobiographical and of course he doesn’t want his day job, or the law to know the nitty gritty. So, you do the maths and enjoy the ride. That ride, we promise you, has plenty of thrills despite the ever-present melancholy. ‘Hot Hot Motor’ is essentially a synth-punk duet between Johnny Cayn’s skronking sax and Cong’s croons and wild-man screams. A call here, an answer there, a He’s A Rebel jaunty solo here and an uncouth vocal outburst there.

I drift from ambient to "rock" and back again, experimenting with ideas and sounds. I do a monthly improvisational at a local gallery where I create soundscapes on the fly.

As a kid, dad's "New German Wave" records fascinated me a lot. That still has an effect today. Experimental synthesizer sounds are my second love. I discovered Punk in my early teen years and Rap has always been very important to me. Through this influence i am constantly on the search for vocals in electronic music. Genres don't mean a lot to me. They only interest me because it is easier to find things with knowledge. Searching and discovering are as much important to me as the listening. The way is the goal.
