Are looking down upon the home
They constructed with care and compassion

Did truth and justice just go out of fashion?

Everybody’s running scared
Of spray tan man, combover hair
He has demands but has no plan  
He lashes out and lies he spouts

This narcissist’s speech is absurd
They’re hanging on to every word
As he panders platitudes to teeming crowds
Like that old biblical snake
Who put the human soul at stake
Did he just say the quiet part out loud?

His ego bruised quicker than fruit
He cannot handle the truth
Like a child caught in the act
With vitriol he strikes back
Did his targets all forget

Not With You

Donald Trump has for the first time won the popular vote, and now around an openly fascist program, starting with plans for mass detention of millions of undocumented immigrants. While there are signs of an emergent resistance, there are also undeniable signs of a left-MAGA convergence around a mutual embrace of authoritarian populism, exploiting disaffection from Biden-Harris' criminal support for Israel's genocide in Gaza. In Episode 251 of the CounterVortex podcast, Bill Weinberg stakes stock of this grim juncture for the United States and the world. We also revive our call from 2016 for electoral nullification—the electors refusing to seat Trump. The New York judge in Trump's "hush money" case must immediately impose the maximum sentence of four years in prison, bringing on the needed constitutional crisis, and the Electoral College must do what it was designed to do under the Constitution: bar a dangerous demagogue from the presidency.

Mandate for fascism, strategy for resistance

The revised deal for US access to Ukraine's mineral wealth (with no security guarantees for Kyiv) collapsed in the unseemly Oval Office donnybrook, and European leaders now convene their own summit—faced with the prospect of supporting Ukraine without the US. But Hungary and Slovakia represent an authoritarian bloc that supports Ukraine's betrayal—and Romania could be next to defect to this Russia-aligned bloc. Europe must realize that the Atlantic alliance is effectively dead, and there are no prospects of reviving it while Trump is in the White House; whether or not the rumors are true that he was recruited as a KGB agent in the '80s, he is now on Putin's side. And progressives must repudiate pseudo-left misleaders who shill for Trump and and spread lies for Putin, and seek a new leadership that mobilizes to oppose them.

David Michael Hartt is a singer/songwriter originally from Timmins, but now living in Owen Sound ON. He has worked with many talented musicians from Shania Twain to Larry Jensen.  His writing style is in more of a storytelling vein as can be seen in his first album “Our Stories” which has songs that tell 10 stories of his hometown of Timmins, ON.  This is to be followed up in late 2023 with a second 10 song collection called “More Stories” which will continue to tell the stories of events and people of note. 
The newest release is “Keep On Driving”. The songs on this album were written mostly over the last few years with a reworking of a 1986 song, “When You Look Up At Night” and the inclusion of “All My Life” a song recorded with his old band “Longshot” in 1987.
David likes to inject a little humour in his songwriting but can write a great love song and does not shy away from wearing his strongly held beliefs on his sleeve. 
Apart from the aforementioned Longshot song and first single “Demon Seed” produced by the very talented Michael Lanteigne of Canadian Country Band Johnson’s Creek, the rest of the album was recorded, mixed and mastered at David’s home studio, with him playing or programming all of the instruments. 
As he is a prolific songwriter, another album is on the horizon for mid-2024 tentatively titled “We’ll Always Have Main St” which will contain some collaborations with other songwriters and musicians.
Presently he is looking into assembling a band to perform the songs from “Keep On Driving”, as apart from the odd open mic, he has not performed live in over 20 years.

Even though I scream inside because of America's shit show, I'm still Rebecca, an old hippie rocker. When you read my comments, hear them in a southern drawl. I’m a liberal from Georgia … yes, we do exist. I moved to Hawaii about 20 years ago. 

I’ve been around the block a few times. Played a lot of guitar and a bit of other instruments. Mostly I've worked as a visual artist. I've spent some years in the music biz with a major label and my own indie label. I’ve done some other interesting things, too, including: horse training, long motorcycle trips, movie set design, accompanying my wife on her pro bowling tours, and I've seen a good bit of the world. Now I’m retired and still keep busy doing all the things I want to do.
