Underground hero and label boss DJ Steaw makes his Nu Groove debut with ‘Seascape EP’, a four-track odyssey of deep, soulful house. With over 12 years of experience, the revered DJ and producer is known for his arresting sets appearing on famed stages including Berlin's Tresor, London's fabric, Amsterdam's Shelter and all over his home nation of France.

As an electronic tastemaker spanning multiple genres and influences, DJ Steaw has launched House Puff Records, Steaward and Rutilance Records, the latter of which he co-founded with crate digger Gunnter. Having already received support from tastemaker Chris Stussy, this four-track package is a perfect fit for the cult NYC label. Opening with the powerful stabs of ‘Take It There’, ‘Seascape EP’ explores the producer’s signature, bass-heavy sound as well as the myriad of influences from further afield. The title track ‘Seascape’ contrasts breathy pads with bright, dynamic percussion, as ‘Close To You’ and ‘Exotica’ further demonstrate a recognisable, nostalgic aesthetic that is both club-ready and dreamlike in quality.

Honoring the timeless legacy of New York's iconic "Nu Groove Records" with this exclusive vinyl-only "Tribute" mix by Julian Garnett (JuJu Muzik).

Nu Groove has been my favorite label since my teenage years in the late 80s and early 90s. Ronald & Rheji Burrell brought something truly unique to the table—a laidback elegance infused with profound emotion and depth. Their music narrated stories, sometimes touching on themes of love, always deep & soulful, sometimes spiritual & optimistic.

In addition to the Burrell brothers, other remarkable artists like Bobby Konders, Kenny Dope, and Peter Daou significantly contributed to the enduring legacy of Nu Groove Records. Many other talented artists also released memorable tracks on the label, including the New Jersey vocal duo Bas Noir (RIP Mary Ridley). Much respect to all who were part of this journey.

Thank you, Nu Groove Records (NY), for the incredible music from a special moment in time. The beginning of House!

Colin Barrett has been moving dancefloors for over two decades, shaping the Midwest underground as a DJ, promoter, and label head. A founding member of the House of Babylon and co-creator of Dingbat Records, Colin’s eclectic sets fuse house, techno, disco, and electro funk into a sound both timeless and unpredictable. From his early residency at Bullwinkle’s Nightclub to gigs across three continents, he’s built a reputation for deep cuts and deeper vibes. His parties have featured legends like Theo Parrish, DJ Minx, and Derrick Carter, and in 2026, he’s launching a new techno label spotlighting the strange, otherworldly sounds of the American Rust Belt.
