A masterclass in aerial hypno grooves from Vancouver's @thurlowjoyce, fresh off the back of a mind melting split EP for NAFF alongside Priori and Regularfantasy packed with euphoric peak time delights.

Q. Hey Cole, what inspiration did you draw upon when putting this mix together? Is there a sound, feeling, or time/place in dance music history that connects all the different elements in one way or another?

A. Hey Myles. Thanks for having me. I've been Deepcasting since day one. It's a blessing to be able to contribute.

I'm in between a few worlds here. I'm originally from Vancouver, Canada, and have been lucky to soak up Canadian sounds since my early days at the Mood Hut parties of free sparkling water. Mood Hut, NAFF, Plush, ISLA, Planet Euphorique, 1080p, they’re cozy CanCon scenes and there's a strong connection between Vancouver & Montreal. 

In parallel I've been stuck on the free form ambiance of 3 X L, Motion Ward, West Mineral Ltd., Kwia adjacent sounds. I'm currently spending a few months in Berlin and just played my first show at Kwia thanks to Nat Marcus (she’s the best), and it's an incredibly unique space, the effect of the experience has been lasting.

This mix feels like a connection between these experiences. I often feel like my taste is a bit too heavy, emotional, euphoric, or dark, and decided to lean into that. There's some softer sounds I've been lingering on mixed with a lot of functional high energy strict business. I hope there's something the listeners can enjoy as well.

Q. Are there any records in the mix that are especially close to your heart, or new or old favourites that you’ve been keeping up your sleeve for the right moment?

A. Naturally there's a healthy amount of CanCon in here. There's so much amazing stuff coming out of NAFF right now. I've been hung up on releases from URA, Purelink and Cousin, as well as one from Cousin's (lovely) label, Moonshoe. Some real bliss from Special Guest DJ as well as with Pontiac Streator as crimeboys. A few favourites from friends (Sverre!), and I've contextualized some of my own. 

Q. I really enjoyed your recent split EP alongside Priori and Regularfantasy for the wonderful NAFF label. Tell us a bit more about those songs you recorded and how it all came together for the label as your debut EP?

A. Thank you! That means a lot. 

Lemon Citrus and Varial are 100% pandemic tracks. I've always struggled to push my own stuff and haven't released much of it or done a good job of putting myself out there. I was writing a lot in isolation during this period and remember trying to be more comfortable with the idea of sharing music, and doing so with my friend Jamie (Big Zen). 

The NAFF connect came about pretty organically. Francis and Adam have been amazing to work with. Jamie’s a G. It was, and still is a trip. NAFF has always been a favourite label of mine. It was a dream realized to be able to contribute.

Topics and Guests: As we continue commemorate Women’s History Month, today we focus on African women filmmakers.  In recent years there has been tremendous growth in the African filmmaking industry on the continent and the diaspora—with a wider range of countries producing movies.  What does this growth mean for African women filmmakers?

The show features a recent conversation with two filmmakers from Nigeria Tosin Otudeko and Segilola Ogidan.  The conversation dissected the impact of women filmmakers on the African film industry.  Filmmaker Tosin Otudeko is a writer and producer of various songs, poems and ongoing projects in theatre and film.  She is the Screenwriter and Producer of recent Nigerian film Over The Bridge.  Segilola Ogidan is a multi-award-winning Producer, Writer, Actress and Director.  She is the Lead Actress in Over The Bridge.   In   Over The Bridge Folarin (Ozzy Agu) is a Lagos-based investment banker with something to hide. Plagued by an alcohol problem and intermittent panic attacks, he finds his life turned upside down when a controversial rail construction project compromises his ethics. The U.S. premiere of Over The Bridge will be held at the 20th edition of the New African Film Festival on March 16 followed by a discussion with Tosin Otudeko.   The festival is presented by AFI and Africa World Now Project with Kishere Mbuya CEO of afrikafé co-founder of the festival. Carrying on from some legendary parties before it, the next generation of ravers held 'plur' true to it's og meaning. Young Harry (Peanut) and I had been mixing together and talking about tunes we loved for months leading up to the event. We played in the side room while the morning light slowly poured in, all the homies in the front and gun fingers to the back. Big party mode with some blissy ones, freedom while it lasted, and a fun one to listen back to. Big thanks to everyone who hosted and the dancers!

It's a blend of mellow house rhythms and organic textures, aiming to capture the essence of the wilderness.

No pre-programming—just spontaneous vibes and the pure connection between music and nature.

ZONNEKAMER – Electro House Mix at Böskäs

Naff atau NaFF adalah sebuah grup musik asal Indonesia yang dibentuk pada tanggal 14 Februari 1998. Anggotanya kini berjumlah 4 orang, yaitu Arda (vokal), Ade (gitar), Odeu (bass) dan Hilal (drum).

1998 - 2000: Pembentukan
Naff dibentuk pada 14 Februari 1998 dan berdomisili di Cimahi. Band ini dibentuk oleh empat orang pemuda. Rusyaedi Makmun adalah salah satu pendiri band tersebut dan Ady mendapatkan posisi vokalis sekaligus pencipta lagu-lagu Naff. Ady mengajak Odeu dan Ade yang awalnya bermain drum, tetapi kemudian posisi Ade sebagai drummer berubah menjadi gitaris. Naff seangkatan dengan grup band U'Camp, Edane, Whizzkid, Grass Rock dan Voodoo

Mereka pun sudah sepakat untuk merekam demo-demo lagu mereka di Kanamusik Studio di Bandung. Ternyata pemilik studio musik tersebut adalah Dedi, jebolan Associate Degree di Wake Technical College dan National Radio Institute resmi bergabung sebagai gitaris.

Mereka telah merilis album Terlahir sebagai tanda kehadiran mereka. Hits Singel dari album ini adalah Ternyata Mimpiku dan Yang Tak Pernah Bisa Mencintaimu.

2001 - 2002: Terbang Tinggi
Album kedua mereka berjudul Terbang Tinggi yang dirilis pada tahun 2001 ini mulai membuat NaFF dikenal publik dengan judul lagu A.N.G (Jangan Letih) dan Bila Kau (Jatuh Cinta). Posisi drummer diisi oleh Hilal dan Ade yang semula menjadi drummer berubah menjadi gitaris sejak Naff merilis album kedua.

2002 - 2003: Album swajudul
Pada tahun 2003, Naff pun mengeluarkan album yang judulnya sesuai dengan nama band mereka. Lagu yang menjadi single adalah Terendap Laraku dan Jika, lagu ini juga menjadi lagu yang cukup booming. Dan di album ini mereka juga memperkenalkan anggota baru mereka bernama Hilal, di mana pada album sebelumnya Hilal bermain sebagai additional player di beberapa lagu mereka.

2006 - 2008: Isyarat Hati (nama Naff dikenal publik)
Pada tahun 2006, mereka pun merilis album yang berjudul Isyarat Hati. Lagu utamanya dalam album ini adalah Kau Masih Kekasihku dan Akhirnya Ku Menemukanmu. Setelah merilis album tersebut, dan nama Naff lebih lagi dikenal publik. Pada tahun 2007, mereka mengeluarkan hits single bernama Seharusnya Kita untuk film soundtrack Coklat Stroberi dan lagu Ketika Semuanya Harus Berakhir dari album Isyarat Hati kembali dimasukan dalam album tersebut.

2008 - 2009: Rahasia Hati
Pada tahun 2008, Naff mengeluarkan album yang berjudul Rahasia Hati dengan Kaulah Hidup dan Matiku serta Tak Seindah Cinta yang Semestinya sebagai lagu utamanya dalam album ini.

2009 - 2010: Senandung Hati dan Jiwa dan keluarnya Ady dari naff
Pada tahun 2010, mereka merilis album yang berjudul Senandung Hati dan Jiwa. Namun, dalam album ini mereka menggunakan musik live accoustic. Bila Nanti Kau Milikku dijadikan sebagai lagu utamanya dalam album ini.

Sang vokalis Naff, ady resmi mengundurkan diri dari bandnya yang telah membesarkan namanya sejak lama. Ady menggundurkan diri tertanggal 1 Januari 2010, Kemudian mereka pun mengadakan audisi vokalis baru Naff. Setelah audisi selesai, jebolan Indonesian Idol, Arda resmi terpilih menggantikan ady sebagai vokalis.

2011: Chapter 07 (New Beginning), pertanda hadirnya formasi baru Naff
Sepeninggal ady, mereka merilis album terkini yang berjudul Chapter 07 (New Beginning) sekaligus perkenalan formasi baru Naff, yaitu Arda sebagai vokalis. Dalam album ini, mereka melahirkan lagu andalan yang berjudul Dosa Apa dan Tak Butuh Jawaban.

2012 - 2013: Hengkangnya Dedi, peluncuran singel dan logo baru
Setelah ditinggal ady, Naff kembali ditinggalkan oleh personelnya, Dedi. Sepeninggal Dedi, Naff meluncurkan single baru berjudul Yang Baru, serta peluncuran logo baru mereka. Logo baru tersebut memasukkan unsur air.[1]

2014 - sekarang: Bergabung dengan Warner Music dan lagu Kenalkan Aku Pada Temanmu
Pada tahun 2014, Naff resmi menandatangani kontrak rekaman terbaru dengan Warner Music Indonesia. Setelah penandatanganan tersebut, mereka resmi merilis lagu baru berjudul Kenalkan Aku Pada Temanmu pada 6 Mei 2015. Lagu tersebut diciptakan oleh Arda dan sang istri, Tantri, serta diproduseri Pay Siburian.[2]

2020-2021: Redup Terang
Pada tahun 2021, setelah 10 tahun tidak merilis album baru, Pada Akhirnya mereka merilis album baru yang ke delapan berjudul Redup Terang. Dalam album ini mereka melahirkan hits single Menualah Denganku, Cerita SMA, Sakit Tapi Tidak Berdarah, Terus Berlari, Pasangan Dan Pulang.
