Track 4 from A Stream of Sound. A Folkloric nature soundscape track that was inspired by a digital painting found on Newgrounds called The Golden Plains. It was made for Newgrounds Art Inspired Music Contest which is known simply as AIM. This was my first entry for the contest.

made in the central SA outback at the Aboriginal sacred site of kati thanda (lake eyre). my aim was to paint the landscape with sound - a melodic/world bass soundscape of ancient wind and sand and water and rocks and fossils and birds. performed at dragon dreaming festival 2025, prior to welcome to country.

This recording was made one quiet morning in my village.

As the sun was rising, the countryside slowly came alive with familiar sounds — distant bird calls, crows echoing across the fields, dogs barking, and roosters announcing the day. You can also hear chickens clucking, goats moving around, and people talking to each other in the distance, adding a very human touch to the natural soundscape.

I recorded this with a Sound Devices MixPre-6 II and a pair of Sennheiser MKH 8040 microphones. What I love about this moment is how it captures the rhythm of everyday rural life, blending animals, nature, and people into one living soundscape.
