Back in 2020, I made a career change and pursued culinary. Last December of 2022, I switched restaurants and got the chance to become a sushi chef. I wrote this album over the past year as my journey as a sushi chef.

OMAKASE. What does this mean? Omakase is a Japanese word and it’s literal definition means “to be left up to you”. Usually this term is associated in sushi restaurants which offer an Omakase-style dinners where the sushi chef makes anywhere from 10-20 single bites for you to try. They tend to contain seasonal or locally acquired ingredients. It's considered one of the most luxurious offers in the culinary world to attend a high-end Omakase dinner.

I decided to concept and create a whole album around sushi and what i do for a living. Lots of repetition and back-and-forth beats to simulate what I experience when feeding customers on a daily basis at my sushi bar. I am constantly writing beats down when I get home. This album is literally the inside of my brain while being a sushi chef.

anyways, I present to you my 4th album release, Omakase.

In late September 2020 Duett did a #beataday challenge. 1 song, per day, for 10 days, with themes voted for on Instagram and Twitter during that period. These are the tracks that were made during that time. The original versions were all around 1m long, and they've been slightly extended where I thought it would benefit the track for this mini-album release. Usually an album can take a few months, and I found most of that time would be adding textures, trying different sounds - a luxury I didn't have on this challenge, so the tracks contain only what was done during the 1 day challenge period.

After several years of battling his inner demons and successfully infiltrating and destroying the powerful mafia known as the White Crows from within, Meteor now, with no destination or path, finds what he considers a peaceful and tranquil refuge. The problem is that this refuge is not within himself, nor is it some tangible place amidst the perpetual nights of the Neon city.

This refuge is someone, someone who saw beyond Meteor's malevolent and destructive essence. Someone who, unknowingly, will suffer the same curse that this space messenger accepted to bear on his back the day he agreed to be sent to our planet. Moreover, this person will have to challenge the laws that govern the world of the living and the world of the dead. A world where we all believe ourselves to be masters of time, owners of our own destinies, and self-proclaimed "prophets."
