"Today I am releasing a new set with Nocturne. In this one, I focused on a dark, hypnotic setting at a lower BPM range (138–140), combined with my signature Schranz drive. I think I achieved a very nice flow state in which the tracks seem to pass seamlessly into one another. This is something I have wanted to accomplish for a long time, and I feel like I am getting better and better at it."

RAMGON, the stage name of Austin-based DJ Marcos Mondragón, brings a dark, hypnotic, and relentless touch to techno. His approach emphasizes grimy soundscapes and melancholy, aiming to take listeners on a fervent journey.

Nocturne

Cielo Stellato is a short three-movement solo piano piece that aims to capture the heavenly allure of the nocturnal sky. The first movement, Largo e misterioso, sets the tone with a serene atmosphere, sporadically interrupted by fluttering high notes. This subtle tension builds towards the second movement, Allegro brutale con brio, a very brief yet lively dance, marked by repeating dissonant figures. The final movement, Vivace e dolce, bursts forth with radiant joy, as we leap from one shimmering major chord to the next. However, our exhilarating adventure eventually winds down, and little by little we return to a state of peaceful repose.

Three Nocturnes for cello and piano is an intimate triptych exploring night-time imagery through shifting colours and expressive contrasts. The opening Prelude unfolds in a suspended, contemplative atmosphere. The Ballad follows with a jazzy and lyrical voice and arpeggiated piano. The final movement, Three Variations on the Name “Berg”, pays homage through a set of evolving transformations, reflective and impassioned then quietly dissolving into darkness.

“Arnold and I created Nocturne with the intention of developing a new atmosphere and experience for people to enjoy and participate in. We wanted something everyone in the electronic music scene could enjoy while simultaneously engineering something unique and immersive in all aspects, not just through the music but through the people, art, and visuals. Much of our journey is still a work in progress, but I am excited for what this next year holds.”

This mix is a representation of my journey through music and my taste in this moment. I wanted a strong, almost primitive-sounding intro to quickly develop into more industrial electronic, along with some 90s distorted techno. Later on, the mix evolves into a deeper and more hypnotic sound. My goal was to bring an immersive rhythm through strange, heavy, and vocal-driven sounds.

NightFall is a minimalist neo-classical piece centered on a steady, reflective piano motif supported by understated cinematic strings. The track maintains a calm, spacious atmosphere, moving from quiet tension to a controlled, emotional rise without becoming dramatic. Its tone fits night study playlists, moody modern classical, and film-inspired instrumentals. The production remains intimate, with close-mic’d piano and light hall ambience that preserve clarity and nuance. Influences include the restraint of Einaudi, the emotional architecture of Max Richter, and the atmospheric pacing of Ólafur Arnalds. NightFall aims for subtlety, balance, and a quiet sense of narrative.

Nocturne [Melodic Techno / Dark Progressive]

Gísli Magnússon is a composer and music theory teacher from Reykjavík, Iceland. He frequently seeks inspiration in the nature of his home country, and in some of his works he deliberately depicts natural phenomena, such as waterfalls, lava-fields and geysers. A recurring element in his music are diverse and colourful sound textures which he creates by combining various instrumental effects and extended techniques. 

Gísli studied composition at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and later at the Amsterdam Conservatory, where he finished his master's studies in 2017. His main composition teacher's were Gunnar A. Kristinsson, Hróðmar I. Sigurbjörnsson, Atli Ingólfsson, Joël Bons, Willem Jeths and Wim Henderickx. Gísli has also had private lessons and masterclasses with composers such as Kaija Saariaho, Francisco Filidei and Fabien Lévy.

In 2015, Gísli’s first orchestral piece, Strokkur, was recorded by Ed Spanjaard and the CvA symphony orchestra and in 2017, he was selected for Yrkja, a workshop for young composers with Daniel Bjarnason and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, which led to the premiere of his second orchestral piece, Akvocirkulado. Furthermore, Gísli has participated in workshops with ensembles like Duo Harpverk (IS), Uusinta Ensemble (FI) and 4x5 Duo (US) and artists such as Estelí Gomez and Maurizio Longoni. His music has been played in various festivals in Iceland and abroad, including Nordic Music Days (IS), Dark Music Days (IS), Ung Nordisk Musik (SE & NO), Musiikin Aika (FI) and Rondò in Monferrato (IT). Other performers of his music include Caput Ensemble (IS), Elja Ensemble (IS), Jökla Ensemble (IS), Kompass Ensemble (DE), Tempo Ensemble (US) and Orquestra Filarmônica da UFPR (BR). Occasionally, Gísli performs his own music, either as a pianist or, less commonly, as a harpsichordist.

Composer-pianist Michael Goldberg began studying piano in 2022 at age 56 and, less than two years later, released his debut album Carnival of Lights—a neoclassical-ambient collection featuring Misha Stefanuk, Peter Voronov, and later works with Rich Gray, and Fabio Alessandrini. Shaped by influences that range from Ludovico Einaudi and Michiel Borstlap to classical masters and contemporary artists, Goldberg crafts evocative, cinematic soundscapes that Andy Hull calls “breathtaking” and “really unique.”
