My first performance of A Child's Christmas was in Greensboro, NC 1987. I performed the story in a parking lot while my friend and I had 30 minutes to spare before our movie, "Fried Green Tomatoes," was due to start. Given that the poem runs for 22 minutes, the timing was perfect for an impromptu rendition in the car. That experience marked the beginning of a cherished tradition, as I've recited it every Christmas season since.

This song takes listeners on a reflective journey, blending **nostalgic Christmas imagery** with a **mysterious, twilight-like ambiance**, where carols of old are twisted into something fresh, poignant, and timeless.  

**Themes & Storytelling**  
The lyrics of *"Twilight on Christmas Eve"* weave a story that is both wistful and uplifting. It explores themes of **forgotten dreams, fleeting memories, and the rediscovery of love and hope** amidst the cold, winter night. Familiar Christmas elements like Santa, Rudolph, Frosty, and carols are reimagined as echoes of the past, symbols of traditions that carry deeper, sometimes unspoken meanings.
