Having leant heavily into hardware-focused productions, Galtier has refined his use of raw, one-take recordings and hand-crafted audio inflections, carving out a space dripping with feedback channels, aggressive modulation and dense, weighty sub bass, the collection makes for a set of highly functional, warehouse-ready rollers.

The EP carries itself along a subtle, evolutionary line, where Galtier hones in on transient, shifting soundscapes of rich, searing synthetics, all glued together with tight, syncopated rhythms that channel dubstep and electro. The intention is for each piece to sound alive; teeming with a life of its own, full of personality and vitality that breathes throughout. A significantly mature body of work that encapsulates the decade and a half journey into sound that he has embarked on.

Their walls are both mirror and prism: they reflect the world's passions and torments, while also capturing a fragmented celestial light. This interplay of reflections gives birth to ghostly visions, remnants of a forgotten empire, now altered and deformed. 'Crystal Towers' is a dive into solitude, an impulse to withdraw into an inner sanctuary to silence the turmoil. Glitchy, saturated synths reverberate eerily along the translucent surfaces, while Renaissance flutes rise like beams of light piercing ancient stained glass. 

The voice, shifting between the angelic and the monstrous, gives shape to both the vilest and the most sublime emotions haunting the human soul. The composition of the EP draws on early Baroque monody, a turning point when melody and harmony broke free, allowing the human voice to bare its most intimate affects. Throughout 'Crystal Towers', melodies oscillate between fragility and vertiginousness, exposing our innermost struggles in their purest form.

A new addition to the NHS roster, Steel Traxx joins at the 34 mark with three surging, buzzy club offerings applicable across a span of factors; energy, pace, duration of evening, yet Cohesive in their strident hypnotism. The Manchester-based producer carries a short, yet pronounced legacy of productions, having honed a definable approach to the brand of wonky, eclectic club music. Initial outings via a debut EP on London’s Erbium Records and single-track features on Manchester’s own Rubber Works demonstrate a clear vision and intention of sound, furthered only by the entrance into NHS territory.

A delicate balance of synthetics drenched in unnatural delays, crunchy, earthy percussion sampling and haunting melodies make for a package of intensely club-ready USB additions tailored effectively to a range of atmospheres. Holistic employment of rolling, building energy features across the selection; a masterful, refined second EP from one of the scene’s freshest newcomers.

Steel Traxx - Plant Alliance

Returning to the Waystation once again; many occupants pass through this space on their separate travels, each creating their own line of intention and purpose. Sequence II is another snapshot of this moment in time. Cultures, influences and individuals have since changed, with a handful of remnants of the past enduring, perhaps the same in title but vastly different in substance and spirit. We see fourteen audio artists present their works for the Nostro Hood, representing their respective worlds.

Disparate styles, sound palettes, emotions and impacts span the collection; a magnified, intricate look into the lineage of each artist's personal exploration and conception of an aural pinnacle. Diverse in nature, yet wholly homogenous through the motivation to create movement in the body of organism. This compilation serves as an offering of said insight gathered by the NHS Xenologists.
