[0:52:20] Grooverider wants someone to design a logo for his show. I assume that nowadays this would be really simple – there must be hundreds of websites you can use, AI and so on – but back in 2002 I wonder how easy it would have been? Would you have had to buy Photoshop to design a logo?
[1:20:00], [1:22:20] It seems that ‘Porto Time’ was the working title of ‘Puerto Rico’. Optical explains where the idea for the tune came from and that he heard the sample used in the intro on the radio.
[1:23:55] Grooverider does not say that this is Goodfoot VIP so maybe this is the original version of this tune and at the time of this interview there were plans to release it.
[1:29:45] Ed Rush is about to get married – Grooverider is doing his best not to tie the knot!
[1:38:25] “Nobody else in the world can play that apart from Peshay”. Grooverider was not sure if it would be released (and it wasn’t).
[1:53:20] Because it will be so good, Grooverider encourages listeners to record the next show from the radio. (Also in the show on 2004-03-20 at [1:01:15]). On 2004-10-16 at [1:52:10] Grooverider discouraged people from recording the show.

Like always I want to showcase my taste and my roots, the more underrated side of the genre including lots of forgotten gems and b-sides, that people rarely refer to when they talk about the 'golden years' nowadays. It’s double Nokia this week as our guest is from that company and the lads were also Nokia’s guests in Finland recently. Special guest Bjorn Capens is from Belgium and he brought over a selection of beers typical to that country. So they start by going though those before getting into Bjorn’s day job at Nokia, which focuses on fixed broadband networks, covering the history of broadband and the latest fixed network technology developments and market trends. They eventually get on to Iain and Scott’s visit to Oulu in northern Finland, where Nokia has just opened an impressive new wireless technology campus, before briefly reflecting on Oracle’s impressive recent earnings.

Born in the Chernobyl era 🙂 From an early age, electronic music has been my passion and my source of inspiration. I was lucky to grow up during the golden years of the electronic scene, shaping my unique style and taste under the influence of legends such as Marco Carola, Marco Bailey, Sven Väth, Mario Ranieri, Filterheadz, The Advent, Thomas Schumacher, Leo Laker, Tomash Gee, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, DJ Amok, Chris Liebing, Frank Kvitta, Sven Wittekind, and many other irreplaceable artists.

As a DJ, I strive to capture the true spirit of this music — blending its raw, unrelenting energy with my personal sensitivity and love for deep, driving rhythms of Techno, Hard Techno, and Schranz. My sets are more than carefully selected tracks — they are an emotional journey, where every beat is a tribute to the culture that shaped me as both an artist and a human being.

Music is more than a passion — it’s a language through which I express myself, share emotions, and create genuine connections with others. Standing behind the decks is both an honour and a pleasure, and every moment with music reminds me why I gave my heart to it. The culture and openness of the beautiful people in our community restore my faith in humanity and give me the drive to get up every day.

I am active in several collectives, including Selektronika, Techno SpoT, REJVO-BUS, HVS (new initiative), and DESU (new initiative). I’m also connected with LKR Music and Methanabol labels, and a friend of Arnaca Records.

Biography:

With deep roots in London’s underground club scene, FD is an electronic music producer who has never compromised his vision or sound. A deliberate artist, he has spent years honing his craft and his wide-ranging influences have given him an unmistakable, highly detailed sound, allowing him to move comfortably between genres.

With over a decade spent releasing music, FD has built an impressive repertoire on many highly respected record labels, most recently with esteemed boutique label ‘The North Quarter’.

An experienced DJ, his sets are as diverse as his influences and FD knows how to inject the perfect mix of energy and integrity into a singular journey. Digging deep into a wide range of territories old and new, rough and smooth, he continues to play some of the best festivals and venues around the world.
