In May 2025, London Insight Meditation hosted Martin Aylward for a retreat day on the theme of "More Than Meditation", exploring practices such as chanting and bowing and the role they can play in our practice.

Egocentric vs Cosmocentric View

I had a Vision where I was marching in formation with fellow Knights towards a Village that is being overran by Demons whom are slaughtering the Innocent. I seen poor people being ripped apart as blood splashes into red mist covering the scorched Earth. We watched helplessly as Babies were ripped from the arms of Mothers, crushing them in their claws, slitting the throats of the people. We continued to March as thy Innocent run for their lives passing us, while we try to protect them with our lives. Earthquakes split the Earth spitting fire while Demons crawl out attacking us, the buildings in the Village begin collapsing and then we heard a booming voice from the clouds as the ashes covering the ground. We continue to hold thy Line as the last of the Innocent run for their lives while we become their defense. Mighty hellish gates burst through the ground as the Gigantic Devil climbs out with his hatred; fire rain from the skies burning our armor and lighting the ground removing all Beauty. Even with all Evil faced, we continued to March to our Certain Death. Suddenly, through the blood-filled skies, the clouds dispersed shining a Bright Light onto all of us Holy Knights, Blessing our Armor with Mystical Love. We heard a deep rumble of a thousands of Trumpets that sounded like Thunder that slowly rose in frequency with Angelic voices shouting "Go!" Which we all immediately charged into Battle to slay thy Evil!

"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ."

We Hold Thy Line

Today, we're reminded of the powerful truth of Emmanuel - God with us. This concept, rooted in Isaiah 7:14, isn't just a Christmas message, but a daily reality for believers. We explored how God's presence was visibly manifested throughout the Old Testament - in divine prosperity, miraculous protection, and supernatural guidance. From Joseph's success even in prison to the Israelites crossing the Red Sea, these stories showcase God's faithfulness. But here's the exciting part: if the Old Testament was glorious, how much more blessed are we in the New Testament era? We have Emmanuel, God's Son, with us always. This realisation should transform every aspect of our lives, including our finances. When we truly grasp that the Creator of the universe is with us, victory in all areas becomes possible. Let's challenge ourselves: Are we living as if God is truly with us? Our prosperity - spiritual, physical, and mental - can be evidence of walking in God's will and presence. Let's embrace this truth and watch how it changes our perspective and our lives.

Embracing God's Presence

"I Am the Offering" is a heartfelt declaration of surrender — a worship ballad that rises from the ashes of brokenness into the fire of devotion. Unfortunately, most believe that giving comes from what's left over. This attitude neglects the fact that God is the sole source of what's given to begin with. Israel was to give a tenth of their crops & animals to the Temple. However, when their crops didn't produce a profitable yield, they withheld their tenth from God. In Malachi 3:8-15, the Lord calls on Israel to test Him. He promised blessings, if they continued in their obedience to sacrifice a tenth. Join us for our sermon "Tithing the Storehouse," where we'll hear Malachi prophesy over Israel about the current state & future of their tithes & offerings. Even if Israel gave a tenth, despite an unprofitable yield, through Malachi the Lord said: "I will...pour out for you a blessing until it overflows."

The first interaction I remember having with you was at the old Calcutta airport sometime in the 1990s. A group of about six god sisters, traveling together, arrived on the same flight as you and a few god brothers. Our cars had not yet arrived to take us to Mayapur, and we were unsure what to do. There were no cell phones. We were stuck. Whilst everyone else from the flight left, you, alone, stayed behind to help us arrange transportation. I'm not sure how long it took, but you didn't leave until we were safely packed and on our way. This simple act of kindness left a lasting impression on me.

Since that time, I have witnessed and often heard about many such instances of your personal care and willingness to go out of your way to give your association and support. Your loving friendships with your god siblings have been a source of inspiration to me and so many others. You embody the same personal warmth and compassion with which Śrīla Prabhupāda interacted with His disciples. It doesn't matter one's position, what service one renders, or how steadily one maintains devotional service standards. You always offer understanding, encouragement, and heartfelt compassion.

I received from his home, His Holiness Radhanath Swami, a piece of advice which I hold dear and which I consider one of the most useful pieces of advice I have ever received. In one of our conversations, in which I was complaining about how overwhelming all the problems are in management, and I was listing some of the conflicts that were seemingly intractable, he gave me straightforward, very simple advice that I go back to again and again.

He said to me, "You have to be blissful in order to deal with problems. Therefore, your main duty as a leader/manager is to find out how to make yourself blissful by being deeply absorbed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness."

I feel that this answer contains all of Śrīla Prabhupāda's most important instructions. It's at once practical and fully aligned with Śrīla Prabhupāda's mood. And I will say that Rādhānāth Swami exemplifies this, because of his advancement in devotional service. Despite the fact that he has service that is unimaginable for any one human being, he is able to handle it because he always remains blissful by being engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness—hearing and chanting, remembering Kṛṣṇa wherever he goes—and this is the key to life.

I'm forever grateful to him for his association, for all he's doing for the saṅkīrtana movement, and for this one piece of advice, which has kept me steady and engaged in service over so many years.
