In the early 1990s , when trance was born, there were a lot of good new trance labels and then there was Limbo Records. The record company that brought us progressive house. The tight and wet acid sounds were completely different from the traditional trance of that time. The set includes some tracks that were not possible to find, at least for me, before the time of the internet. The mixes on old C-cassettes usually were played without tracklists. With the internet, these songs could be downloaded to various tune-ID services. Probe -  Rapid R was one of these releases. I was searching that tune for over 15 years before I even knew what song it was.

There are still a lot of active DJs playing from the era when trance was born. It would be amazing if they could bring up these old masterpieces more often and not always playing the same tracks in those classic sets.

Daughter and heiress of Trance, Hard Trance of the 90s, and Techno of the 2000s. Lover of electronic music since 1992, I enjoy various styles of electronic music, including trance, progressive, techno, and electro. Based in Alicante with experience in France, the UK, and Switzerland, I recently arrived on the turntables in 2024 to pursue my passion.
Hija y Heredera del Trance, Hard Trance de los 90, y del Techno de los 2000. Amante de la música electrónica desde 1992, melófila de varios estilos como el Trance, Progressive, Techno y Electro. Residente en Alicante con pasado en Francia, Uk y Suiza, recién llegada a los platos en el 2024, para dedicarme a mi pasión.

I started going to clubs in the early 90s, right around the time when electronic music hit the clubs. The countless events of the early 90s and the completely new music style and the atmosphere of smoky caves were something completely new. At that time, vinyls and CDs were listened and bought to in record stores. The most famous of which in Finland was Street Beat run by DJ Joke (RIP). Jokke was also an amazing DJ and is considered the father of Finnish techno culture.

Certain radio programs were another way to discover new artists and music. Perhaps the most influential of these for me was Beatbox run by Aki Matilainen of Radio CITY. DJ Orkidea's first radio mix was also recorded here (which I still have on Beatbox's C-cassette number 18). At that time, almost all the money was wasted on record stores and luckily I have saved those records to this day. Elektronic music is still a big part of my life every day and I thought it would be great to bring out those old songs. Especially the ones that you don't usually hear on every mix. Inspired by this, I started making my own mixes and bringing out the songs that many younger people may never have heard before.

I personally like more melodic trance and my biggest favorites over the years have been:

From the labels Eye Q, Harthouse, Limbo, Perfecto, Platipus, Rising High and Superstition.

From the artists BT, Grace, Oliver Lieb, Jan Johnston, Matt Darey, Paul Oakenfold, The Space Brothers, Way Out West and definitely of course Scooter!

Most memorable events that I have experienced in club scene is in the early 90s, DJ Kid Paul live at Botta in Helsinki. Grace perfoming live (in 95 or 96) on the Big Bang (not 100% sure about this name) cruise from Helsinki to Stockholm. Last year was the first Luminosity Beach, where I finally saw The Space Brothers and Matt Darey live, amazing!

In the early 90's I started playing vinyl under the name DaveS. Because I went out a lot in Belgium, I was infected with the harder styles of house music and I mainly played Hard Trance / Techno music, with the Bonzai records label as my favorite.
With music by Yves deRuyter and Mike Push.

In the late 90s and early 2000s, I regularly visited Tiësto's record store in Breda to buy the latest vinyls from the record label Magik, Blackhole and In Trance We Trust.
Under the name DaveS I have played in various clubs in the Netherlands, Belgium and also in Greece. I stopped playing because something serious happened in my private life.
But after a long time during the lockdown I started playing vinyl and digital again under the name Dj Penly
For example, last October I participated for the 4th time in a vinyl marathon during the Amsterdam Dance Event, which was a great experience.
I also played live on air for various house radio stations.
Penly's favorite style is Progressive Trance music and he likes to take you on a musical journey!
