KY Secretary of State Michael Adams (Republican) and Univ. of Louisville Political Science Prof. Jasmine Farrier discuss Ranked Choice Voting, which would allow voters to rank their choices of candidates on the ballot, and Open Primaries.  These are both proposed changes to how Kentucky's elections are run.  This event took place at the KY League of Women Voters Annual Meeting, held in Louisville June 3, 2023.

Elizabeth Hawks, Coordinator for the League of Women Voters for Southern Kentucky and Mathew Ruberg, both of whom are founders and Board members of Rank the Vote Kentucky, join Victoria Strange, occasional co-host and Ruth to explain the different Primary voting methods used in different states and how well each type achieves the goal of representing voter preferences.  They also delve deeply into Ranked Choice Voting (RCV), sometimes referred to as instant runoff voting, in which the winner must receive over 50% of the votes.

On October 16, 2023, The League of Women Voters Louisville KY hosted a Democracy in Action panel on Voting System Security, Voter Access, Voting Rights and Open Primaries.  Participants were: (1) Mary Ellen Allen, Co-Director of the Jefferson County Clerk Election Center; (2) Erran Huber, Dir. of Communications, Media and Public Relations for the Jefferson County Clerk's Office; (3) Neville Blakemore, former candidate in the Democratic Primary for Jefferson County Clerk and concerned citizen; (4) Raymond Burse, first V.P. of the Louisville NAACP; and (5) Laura Weinstein, Board member of the League of Women Voters, Kentucky.
