“Đi Đây Đi Đó” (Go Here Go There)” marks a personal chapter in *LOOP’s journey. Inspired by their travels and experiences during an eight-month hiatus, the track reflects a period where each member took their own path. Yet no matter how far they went, there came a moment to return: to the place, the people, and the passion that started it all.

This song captures a story of exploration, growth, and reconnection, echoing the Vietnamese phrase “đi thật xa để trở về,” which speaks to the belief that going apart only makes a return more meaningful. Their practice explores gender and genre expression, while channeling both rage and fatigue toward accelerationism: a condition that defines the generation they were born into. With a deep appreciation for big sound systems, PH00000NG curates an ever-evolving palette that shifts from subby and groovy to mental and experimental, always mutative and captivating.

“Đi Trẩy Hội Thôi (Shall We Gather?)” samples Vietnamese court* music, capturing the energy of people heading to a (spring) festival. Vietnamese traditional court music is characterized by ceremonial melodies and rhythmic patterns, often evoking a sense of procession and celebration. The track’s blend of samples reflects a complex relationship of Vietnamese night culture today: both native and adopted. Much like PH00000NG’s typical work, this track was subconsciously driven, created as if they were scoring a film that plays in their mind.

When she was approached for this project, it offered the perfect opportunity to include a sound intimately connected to her heart and roots. In this track, TWIENA channels her inner path and the way music can carry listeners forward, while deliberately contrasting the solemn conservativeness of a temple with the liberating spirit of nightlife.

vân anh is a multidisciplinary creative based in HCMC, working as a photographer, director, and DJ. She drives the energy behind two of Saigon’s party collectives, Gái Nhảy, featured in No One ISSUE 02, and :Dismal, keeping the city’s underground scene unpredictable. Her visual work, from photography to digital art, plays with contrasts—blending the grotesque with the ordinary, and complexity with simplicity—reflecting the same tension found in her DJ performances.

rbf.linh is an artist, live performer, and DJ whose work draws from her experiences as a queer Vietnamese-Chinese individual growing up in the West. As half of Animistic Beliefs, she explores heritage, displacement, and sexuality through collaborative projects that blend rhythm, vocals, and visual storytelling. Under her solo project rbf.linh, she creates raw, dance-floor-ready sounds with haunting vocals, using rhythm and noise to process everything that consumes her. nguyendowsXP navigates music with a focus on feeling, blending softness with raw energy. As a versatile DJ, they move between ethereal sounds and frenetic bursts, exploring the tension between delicacy and intensity. Their selections and productions prioritize emotion over genre, creating deeply personal and immersive experiences.


ABOUT THE SOUND

“Di Vào Hư Vô (Go into the Nothingness)” began with finding a ca trù sample in an old Ableton folder. Ca trù—a traditional Northern Vietnamese art form—has haunting, theatrical vocals that reminded nguyendowsXP of the raw, expressive soul diva samples often used in jungle. The sound felt naturally suited to being dubbed out.

Most of the process focused on drum editing, driven by an obsession with how breaks can morph into one another rather than rely on sharp cuts. The goal was a psychedelic fluidity: rhythms that feel like they’re transforming, not just switching.

Influenced by ’95 Remarc, Scientific Wax, and touches of breakcore, the track explores jungle’s tension between the organic and the digital, filtering those elements through nguyendowsXP’s background. The samples retain traces of their origins but are reassembled into something entirely new.

Nam Phùng, formerly known as TrinhNu, is a Hanoi-based DJ and producer and a resident at the club Unmute. Since entering the nightlife scene in 2016, he has progressed from dancing to performing behind the decks, developing a distinctive musical style. He creates club edits blending high-energy beats with mellow pads and playful melodies, drawing from breakbeat house, European proto-trance, and ’90s rave sounds.

“Đi Hồ Tây (Go to the West Lake)” was finished shortly after completing Nam Phùng’s first EP, as Hanoi lifted its COVID-19 lockdown and people could finally go out again. For Nam Phùng, it was a special time filled with pure emotion. That’s why this track radiates hope and optimism, capturing the feeling of moving freely once again: the exact forward push this V/A celebrates.

It All Ends Optimistically

No One is a print magazine that celebrates underground queer nightlife around the world. 

Each year, we focus on a different city’s LGBTQIA+ scene, sharing locally written stories of individuals and collectives who are organizing spaces and movements for their communities to build identity and connection through electronic music.

By focusing on print, No One intends to take up physical space, demand attention, and facilitate deep engagement with each page, seeking to be an antidote to the fleeting nature of digital media and the ephemerality of nightlife.

To complement the magazine, No One also hosts events and creates projects like zines, films, and other creative experiments—often tied to the cities featured—to further explore distant scenes beyond the print.

Whether a queer kid in the suburbs, an elder (re)finding their community, or an ally who appreciates and wants to learn more about queerness, No One exposes the beauty in each individual and inspires the courage to discover more of oneself and those around them.

Therealphilgold hasn’t performed live since 1987, but hasn’t stopped playing and writing music for over 60 years. His musical tastes range widely, from The Chieftains to The Clash, from Dick Dale to Dvorak.  Primarily a guitarist and bass player, his earlier instrumental, guitar driven songs cover a spectrum from mellow lullabies to atmospheric rock. As his abilities and inclinations evolved, Phil has been increasingly tempted with “Classical” and orchestral music. Now a denizen of Spain, he has been collaborating with David “The White Haired Man” Hassler to both write and record new songs and add lyrics to some older works.
