From Russian Mystic To Boardroom Meetings  The Wild Origins Of Corporate Jargon

This research article explores the relationships within social networks that influence information seeking and organizational learning. The authors propose a model that incorporates four relational characteristics: knowing what another person knows, valuing that knowledge, accessing their thinking, and the cost of seeking information. They conducted studies in two pharmaceutical organizations, demonstrating that knowing, valuing, and access are positively related to information seeking. Although cost was initially hypothesized to be a factor, the study found it was not significant. Furthermore, the researchers found that knowing and access mediate the relationship between physical proximity and information seeking. These findings suggest that organizations should focus on fostering relational characteristics in their networks to enhance learning and information exchange.

This master's thesis investigates how organizational psychology factors, particularly taboos and defensive mechanisms, can influence the decision-making behavior of employees in the Norwegian public healthcare system.
