This set is heavily influenced by Middle Eastern sounds and is my way of paying tribute to what seems to be a majestic, generous and beautiful culture. I find the discourse which equates terrorists with ordinary warm-hearted people to be both generalising and despicable...

Rest in peace everyone whose lives have been lost due to Hamas' careless actions and the IDF's ruthless responses, which are backed up by large parts of the west – not least the US.

die gebürtige Hamburger Afghanin ist im Stadtteil Steilshoop aufgewachsen, der sie persönlich und musikalisch sehr geprägt hat, insbesondere durch die Hip Hop -Kultur seit den 1980ern. TAĪĪZ ist dank ihrer Künstlerfamilie mit einer großen Vielfalt an Musik aufgewachsen: Southasian Classical Music, Michael Jackson & Prince, Bollywood, Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, R&B, und viel afghanische Musik aller couleur gehören zu ihren größten Einflüssen. Als DJ und vor allem afghanische Frau ist es wichtig für sie ihre Herkunft in den Vordergrund zu stellen und afghanische Tracks gekonnt mit diversen Genres zu mixen, um afghanische female Präsenz in der DJ -Welt zu zeigen. „Es gibt kaum afghanische Frauen, die auflegen und es wird Zeit, dass es zur Normalität wird“. Afghanische Tanzmusik ist sehr Eigen in ihrer Rhythmik und Tempo und somit sehr schwer mit anderer Musik zu mixen. Es ist aber nicht unmöglich, wenn man die Passion und Geduld dafür besitzt, dann findet man Wege und most importantly, gute Übergänge“

"WOMEN WORLDWIDE UNITE

I’m Z•nea, a DJ and producer based in Cologne, known for weaving an ever-changing
sound that connects the cultures I grew up with. My sets are journeys, shaped by genre bending, soulful and magical sounds, with a special care for complex percussion and
the rhythmic influences of my Middle Eastern heritage.

Curating this set with the initial aim of only using works of female producers, while
staying true to my sound, was a bit challenging. Since I started incorporating more
Middle Eastern Sounds and 3-step rhythms within my own works and my
sound selection, I noticed that there are very few female artists that produce the kind of
sound that I am looking for. At least they are not as visible as their male colleagues. So
my aim with this set was not only to discover more female artists with a similar cultural
background to myself, but generally female artists from across the globe, that merge the
sounds of their cultural heritage with the electronic world we live in. However, this set is
not 100% female produced - in the end I spontaneously mixed in one of my fav tracks,
„Wet Groove“ by Alma Matris, because it just fit sooo good.

In this set, you’ll hear sounds that blend influences from Afro tech and Latin bass with
the metallic tones of oriental rhythms. All united by their focus on using colourful
percussions and energising drums. Each track was selected to celebrate the cultural
diversity that is brought into electronic music by female artists worldwide. Here to make
your bellies, booties and just everything shake ✨"
