Only dyed-in-the-wool jingle aficionados with understand and recognise what they are 
listening to. Here is 20 minutes of studio session outtakes from the original recordings made from 1960 to November 1961. They are #15 Living Radio, #16 The Sound of the city, #17 The New Frontier, and #18 Sonosational. 

I have chosen mostly fragments (where the takes go wrong) rather than whole cuts, since they still have commercial value, and many remain available as resings by Jon Wolfert at JAM (pams.com). Jon is the owner of the entire PAMS back catalogue. I am reproducing these with his kind permission. 

Back then, recording technology was limited although PAMS was ahead of the game. It is interesting to consider that tracks of that era were recorded "simul" (rhythm, brass and/or strings all at the same time) which is one reason they needed so many takes of each cut. Everything was recorded across just two tracks, for final mixing to mono. Everybody had to get everything exactly right at the same time, and the more players you have in the room the harder that becomes, or they would have to do a retake which often could exceed 20 tries. 

I have included conversation in the studio, with discussions between Bill Meeks and Euel Box where nerves sometimes get frayed after an arduous day of recording, as well as humorous banter between the musicians. This I have filtered and amplified to make it easier to follow. Out of this apparent chaos, came the most remarkable jingle music beds ('OBs') as they are known in the trade, ready to be sung over, for hundreds of stations across the world. That these tapes have survived over sixty years in such good condition is amazing. You are likely to find yourself listening to something you once heard over AM radio in high fidelity over sixty years later.

Here is only the tip of the iceberg of my archive, I am keeping the two tracks separate whenever possible, so you can hear clearly what each musician is doing, often lost in the final product, and together with studio ambience, I try to put you back there, right in amongst the instruments, experiencing the birth of some of the most famous jingles ever made.

Therefore it is ideal if you have high quality monitor speakers, or good headphones for best effect.

Episode 70: Bloopers 4, Ghost Protocol

Among Scott’s numerous effects, we stumbled upon a flash drive. On this flash drive were many audio files making up what appears to be a retrospective of his many electronic music works. We think this retrospective was likely for one of the last NOW festivals ever held under Rocky Reuter's supervision, in 2015 or early 2016. We felt this retrospective should be featured on Soundcloud before we got the Patreon going (https://www.patreon.com/InMemoriamScottComanzo). In the meantime we ran out of room here on Soundcloud... until now, as the Soundcloud has raised the money to expand here!

and so, the electronic retrospective can finally continue...

World premiered during that Now Festival, Scott composed this piece originally as an emailed thank you gift to three saxophonists that assisted him in the production of a piece for Saxophone Quartet and digital media entitled "Juliette." "Juliette" was performed during Scott's time at The Hartt School. This piece is made up of some of the more amusing outtakes from recording sessions that produced the "tape part."
