Oxford’s Simple family continue their monthly show on Voices featuring residents and special guests. This month Bob E Demons brings us a special mix straight off the back of a mega weekend supporting Surusinghe, Simple’s first show of A/W 2025. Bradford-born, Oxford-based, via a few hard years of London; head full of bleeps, legs wobble with bass. Known for slamming records together that shouldn’t, mostly acid house, post punk, percussive clangers and techno bangers but loves throwing in a few surprises to his sets. Recent slots alongside Batu, Emerald, 4am Kru have shown he’s a force behind the decks and this mix is a good example, a dynamic and powerful journey through new and old dancefloor sounds.

A staple of Oxford’s nightlife for the past 26 years, Simple continues to throw parties with some of the best DJs on the global circuit as well as local homegrown talent. They’ve just  launched their Autumn/Winter season of events with a stunning headline set from Surusinghe kicking things off…much more to come over the next few weeks and months - Neffa T, 4am Kru, Bakey and many more, keeping them at the forefront of the scene

In our second episode for this series, Prof. Anup Surendranath and Prof. Jon Yorke, moderated by Dr Aradhana Cherupara Vadekkethil, critically assess the legal, moral and procedural dimensions of capital punishment and its broader human rights implications. 

At a time when judicial scrutiny of capital punishment in India is intensifying, and global conversations on justice and state power are shifting, this discussion offers timely insights into the ethical and constitutional questions surrounding the death penalty.

Oxford’s Simple family continue their monthly show on Voices featuring residents and special guests. This month Captive State brings us a mix in support of his new self-released EP, ‘Inner Space’ which dropped this week.

Captive State is a Brighton based DJ Producer, with a deep, lifelong obsession with electronic music and rave culture.   He honed his skills on the decks in Oxford whilst at university there, playing a mix of breaks, tech and progressive beats at nights like Slide at the Zodiac.  Now residing on the south coast, he produces ethereal, progressive music in a studio with a sea view, occasionally travelling back to Oxford to DJ for Simple club nights.

A staple of Oxford’s nightlife for the past 26 years, Simple continues to throw parties with some of the best DJs on the global circuit as well as local homegrown talent. They’re racing through their Autumn/Winter season of events, recent highlights include Neffa T, Surusinghe, Sexy Lady Massive and with 4am Kru, Bakey, Dogshow and more before the year is out, they’re standing firm at the forefront of the scene.
