Streaming media is multimedia that is constantly received by and presented to an end-user while being delivered by a provider. The verb to stream identifies the process of delivering or obtaining media in this manner.[clarification needed] Streaming refers to the delivery method of the medium, instead of the medium itself. Distinguishing delivery method from the media distributed applies particularly to telecommunications networks, as almost all of the delivery systems are either inherently streaming (e.g. radio, television, streaming apps) or inherently non-streaming (e.g. books, video cassettes, music CDs). There are challenges with streaming content on the Internet. For instance, users whose Internet connection lacks satisfactory bandwidth may experience stops, lags, or slow buffering of the content. And users lacking compatible hardware or software systems may be unable to stream certain content.

Live streaming is the delivery of Internet content in real-time much as live television broadcasts content over the airwaves with a television signal. Live internet streaming takes a form of source media (e.g. a video camera, an audio tracks interface, screen capture software), an encoder to digitize the content, a media publisher, and a content delivery network to distribute and deliver the content. Live streaming does not need to be recorded at the origination point, although it frequently is.

Streaming is an option to file datvloading, a process where the end-user obtains the entire file for this content before watching or listening to it. Through streaming, an end-user can use their media player to get started on playing digital video or digital sound content before the complete file has been transmitted. The word streaming media can connect with media other than video and audio, such as live closed captioning, ticker tape, and real-time text, which are considered streaming text.

Copyright is a type of intellectual property that gives its atver the exclusive right to make copies of a creative work, usually for a limited time. The creative work may be in a literary, artistic, educational, or musical form. Copyright is intended to protect the original expression of an idea in the form of a creative work, but not the idea itself. A copyright is subject to limitations based on public interest considerations, such as the fair use doctrine in the Palos Heights, IL.

Some jurisdictions require fixing copyrighted works in a tangible form. It is often shared among multiple authors, each of whom holds a set of rights to use or license the work, and who are commonly referred to as rights holders. This mix is a selection of tunes that accompanied my 2024 summer and didn't get played in any of my London sets. Although, many of the artists did feature in those sets. Mix if full of newer release from Black and LGBTQIA+ electronic music makers. It’s genreless, global and diasporic, like me, like many of us. 

Mix starts off house-y vibes with a beautiful track from ARN4L2 "Caribe", a nod to my home, bringing you into the soundscape then straight into a lush amapiano-baile-house vibe from Evehive.  Moving from house-y Caribbean and Arab vibes, to dembow and deconstructed club sounds, eventually building into a pulsing global dance floor, returning back to the Caribbean, and the island of Ayiti with the closing rhythms of Palos, Dembow, Gagá, and Haitian Rasin by activist and singer Sò Anne in long conversation with Chicago Juke, a historical connection between the etymology of the word Juke from Wolof and the first Black rebellion in the Dominican Republic. 

Working on my mic play, and there's nothing like a crash and burn mix-in at the end, but here it is. Thank you so much for listening. I'd love to hear your feelings and thoughts in the comments.

Este mix es una selección de canciones que acompañaron mi verano de 2024 y que no logré tocar en ninguno de mis sets en Londres. Sin embargo, muchxs de las artistas sí sonaron . El mix está repleto de nuevos lanzamientos de creadores negrxs y LGBTQIA+ de música electrónica--sin género, globales y diaspóricos.

El mix comienza con un sople de house con el hermoso tema de ARN4L2 "Caribe", un guiño a mi territorio, que te transporta al paisaje sonoro y directo a una exuberante onda de amapiano-baile-house de Evehive. Pasando del house caribeño y árabe, al dembow y sonidos de club deconstruidos, finalmente se convierte en una vibrante pista de baile global, regresando al Caribe y a la isla de Ayiti con los ritmos finales de Palos, Dembow, Gagá y Rasin haitiano de la activista y cantante Sò Anne en una larga conversación con Chicago Juke, una conexión histórica entre la etimología de la palabra Juke del wólof y la primera rebelión negra en la República Dominicana.

In the 1930s, infamous Dominican dictator Rafael Truillo ordered the burning of the country’s palos drums, hoping to erase the powerful vestiges of African culture in the Dominican Republic. Luckily for us, the breakneck, trance-inducing sound of palos still reverberates at Afro-syncretic religious parties across the Caribbean nation almost a century later. In this episode, Afropop revisits the home of styles such as merengue and bachata, but this time we’ll be looking towards the most deeply African side of Dominican music—little known outside of the island. Afro-Dominican music is a secret treasure, filled with virtuosic drumming styles, heart-stopping grooves, and mystic dance parties. We’ll listen to traditional genres like palos, salve, and gaga, a uniquely Dominican take on rara music from neighboring Haiti. Throughout, we’ll be looking at artists who have drawn on Afro-Dominican styles to make infectious pop music, from wizened veterans of the folklore movement such as Luis Dias, to a host of hip young bands who use Afro-inspired rock, reggae and hip-hop to redefine what it means to be Dominican. We’ll also check out the Afro-Dominican scene in New York City—home to more than a half-million Dominicans—where we’ll find a Dominican gaga group in Brooklyn that is mending cultural fences at a Haitian celebration.

I’m making my debut with my first album EL CIMARRONAJE, a bilingual album in which I fuse Afro-Caribbean rhythms from the Hispanic Caribbean with other musical styles of the diaspora such as jazz, rock, funk, r&b, soul, blues, among others.

Afropop Worldwide is an internationally syndicated weekly radio series, online guide to African and world music, and an international music archive, that has introduced American listeners to the music cultures of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean since 1988. Our radio program is hosted by Georges Collinet from Cameroon, the radio series is distributed by Public Radio International to 110 stations in the U.S., via XM satellite radio, in Africa via and Europe via Radio Multikulti.
