I am happy to be able to share my opening set from this year's PEX Halloween Ball at BLDG 39 in Philly.

We begin the evening's journey with some progressive house and from there shift to a little dark disco.  Hypnotic techno grooves take us through the top of the hour, keep you bouncing, and wanting more.

Echo - Live @ The 17th Annual PEX Halloween Ball 2023-10-21

Our camp of friends was sharing a twin cabin with the "Bubbles And Babies" camp,  a spin-off from the well known Burning Man camp "Bubbles and Bass."  This time they brought their baby to the burn - literally there was a baby in our shared cabin at the burn.  (We now know why this cabin was still available to share, lol).  Anyhow, somebody was supposed to spin for the Bubbles and Babies' Sunday Morning Mimosa Happy Hours, but the DJ was a no-show.  My buddy Scott (aka.: NJTeton) was sound asleep in the cabin, having recently just gone to sleep an hour or so earlier.  That didn't deter me, I couldn't let a party go without a DJ.  Jumping into producer mode, I shook and prodded Mr. Cassidy, literally dragging him out of bed.  I cooked-up some scrambled eggs, toast, and coffee outside on my Coleman stove, and fed the man, handed him a glass of champagne and NJTeton got into the flow.  Then I continued to cook on the Coleman stove to feed anybody that was hungry, while NJTeton spun this three hour set.  Thank you Scott, and gratitude to Bubbles and Babies for throwing the party, and needing a last minute DJ!

Live at PEX Evolution

Last Sunday June 23rd, 2024 I had the opportunity to play at an amazing musical gathering in the heart of West Hollywood called PEX Los Angeles. PEX (The Philadelphia Experiment) is based in Philadelphia and in the summer they do a 3 day event at a boutique hotel called Hotel Ziggy in WeHo on the Sunset strip. Multiple talented DJs from all over the country keep the grooves going day and night for the whole weekend. A lot of the guests also get rooms there so they don't miss anything.

My set was scheduled for the last day which was Sunday, and I was fortunate to get PEX going for that closing day as people were getting set by the beautiful pool. It was hot (over 90F degrees), it was Sunday, and people were trying to cure their hangover from the night before so for the first hour I played some slo-mo grooves to ease everyone in.

After that first hour though I picked up the tempo and people came to the 'dance floor'. Build it and they will come, I think is the expression, and the heads sure did.

You might not be under the hot sun in Hollywood but you get to experience the same sonic treats that the people there did.

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Recently, Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.

Music is a gift that has filled my life with immense joy and incredible experiences.  My musical taste covers a wide range of sounds that continues to expand as music evolves over time.
