The young MC from Los Angeles, CA represents the jazzy 90s rap sound like no other in 2023. Not only on the Westcoast but internationally. With over 15 million streams, two solo albums & various EPs and collabos, Kid Abstrakt is keeping the legacy of A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul & Pharcyde alive and relevant by using it as a source of inspiration to tell his own story. 

Born in LA to a Brazilian mother and a Nicaraguan father, Kid Abstrakt started out as part of local trio Revolutionary Rhythm before releasing his first album ‘Daydreaming’ in 2017, produced by The Deli from Austin, Texas. With a growing fanbase overseas Kid Abstrakt started working with producers and bands like Cap Kendricks (Germany), Emapea (Poland) and Jazzbois (Hungary).

‘Still Dreaming’ - his upcoming album for Melting Pot Music - is entirely produced by Leo Low Pass from Amsterdam. Leo's signature sound of jazzy boom-bap and Lofi beats provides the perfect backdrop for Abs positive and skillful rhymes.

‘On Point’ is the first singles and features Predominance on the second verse. „When I first heard this beat from Leo Low Pass, I knew I wanted to pay homage to some of my favorite artists while also telling my story.“ Kid Abstrakt says. “The main focus is always making sure the music is on point and that we provide good vibes for our supporters.“

"Dreams" began by going to the local record store "2nd Thoughts" in Prince George, and stocking up on old disco, soul, and jazz vinyl. Still in learning stages of producing with Logic Pro, the sampling process began. What makes this music different than others is Solomon's vision on where he wants the track to go, and his unique instrumental ability to produce over a chopped up sample. 
The Album consists of 6 tracks, where Solomon's creative process varied depending on the sample that was strategically chosen. The process starts with a unique sample, then engineering it in a way that produced a moody theme. While listening to this album you will experience moments of lofi such as in "Bruce" where you will hear snipppets of familiar old film dialgue, to chill rap and RnB singing from the talented Masn and Omerati on "Jazz Rap". Masn switches it up on "Love" where he brings a darker flavour of lyrical flow to the table. The core of the album is constructed around the track "Dreams" where Solomon's work ethic mentor "Kobe Bryant" talks about one's dreams. He talks about doing what you love to do and to not loose sight of your dreams. Solomon takes this track in the direction of more of a soundscape experience with a cinematic approach and movement throughout the mix. This is the start of Solomon's dreams and he is excited to share a lifetime of them with you. He hopes people will be able to jive with it and bring inspiration to other's lives.

Joakim Frithjof has been quietly making his mark in the underground scene. Starting out with a love for Hip-Hop, turntablism, and early House, his musical journey took a new turn when he moved to Amsterdam in 2005, where clubs like Club11 and Trouw shaped his evolving sound. Over the years, he’s played across Amsterdam, hosted his own parties in Utrecht, and even made appearances in cities like Copenhagen, Berlin, and Stockholm.

His style? Hard to pin down. He loves mixing things up, drawing from House, breakbeat, UK Garage, floathouse, rave, and classics. Always keeping it fresh but never forgetting the roots. He’s more about making people move than fitting into any one box.

Beyond DJ’ing, he applies his wide-ranging taste in music to curating playlists for brands and physical spaces. As Music Director at Kollekt.fm and with his own venture, Sonic Curations, he helps create custom playlists and music identities that not only fit the aesthetic but also enhance the atmosphere, leaving behind a lasting audio impression.

Fun Fact: The first CD he ever bought at age 12 was The Prodigy’s The Fat of the Land, a purchase that marked the beginning of a lifelong obsession with music.
