This week on the pod we're joined by Evan Plante of True Optimist. We talked about Robert Palmer's 1980 album, "Clues."

We also chat about Island Records, The Power Station and trying to unlearn old habits musically. 

Evan plays drums in the band Quad, and previously played in the bands Black Market, Pleather, Light the Fuse and Run, Forcefedglass, Bastian and honestly so many others. 

What brought us here today was his debut solo album under the name True Optimist. The album, "Mental Health," explores post-disco, post-punk and other art-rock rhythms. A few songs are streaming now, but you can preorder it right now from Self Aware Records ahead of the August 2nd release.

This track is part of his groundbreaking new EP, 'Breathe,' released on his own imprint, Power Station. The EP highlights Kris Baha's intricate sound design and continually evolving musical style.

This summer ready EP is a reimagination of the mid-90s and early 2000s Y2K dance era, channeling the essence of that period through a contemporary lens, using techno kicks, progressive trance, 90s synth lines, and EBM-influenced bass sequences, while still retaining KB's signature muscular basslines and textural ear candy, all laced with euphoric synth lines.
