In Hinduism, Vishnu is one of the principal deities of the religion's Trimurti, which consists of Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Preserver, and Shiva the Destroyer. Vishnu is the deity responsible for the preservation and protection of the universe. He is often depicted as having a dark or blue complexion, with four arms holding a conch shell, a discus, a mace, and a lotus flower. He is also often shown reclining on the serpent Shesha in a cosmic ocean.
Vishnu is worshipped by millions of Hindus worldwide and is considered to be the ultimate reality by many Hindu schools of thought. His various avatars or incarnations, including Rama and Krishna, are also highly revered and celebrated in Hinduism.
