Following an early morning walk to Normanville Beach, I made my way back through a part of town I rarely visit much. Many years ago, Ronald Street was a dirt road with a smattering of houses, orchards and small paddocks for sheep and cattle. 

During the 90s, it got filled out with more housing and in recent years larger holiday houses line the street. A respite from this urban infill is the huge paddock that runs from a corner of this street up to the Carrickalinga Sands community that was built in the early 1990s. It's a vast expanse of land, encompassing the boundary of the dunes up to the main road that leads to Carrickalinga. 

On this morning, I was struck by the boisterous sound of what appear to be mostly starlings, singing amongst the tall grass out of sight. The sound of the ocean across the distant dunes was also quite prominent too. A delicate morning ambience, only broken briefly by the approach of a ute from one of the neighbouring properties.

This set was recorded at the 2025 Grand Circuit of Montmeló, inside the exclusive Jacqueline VIP Paddock — located right next to the starting line, with an exceptional view of the race. It was one of the most prestigious spaces of the event, filled with Hollywood actors, models, entrepreneurs, team members and pilots. I had the honor of performing the closing set of the day.
The engine sounds you hear throughout the session are real, captured live with a GoPro during the race.
A truly unforgettable moment in my life.

Tristan Louth-Robins is a South Australian artist working principally in the medium of sound art and field recording. Ideas of sound and its signification are key elements in Louth-Robins' practice, traversing the space between the visual and aural his work is realised through the mediums of recordings, installation, visual art and performance. He is interested in sound and its associative implications - including its relationship to objects, technology, urban space, memory and the natural world. 


Since 2005, Louth-Robins has presented work in Australia and internationally as a solo artist, whilst also collaborating with artists, writers, researchers, musicians and performers. 

Working across a vast array of activities encompassing composition, sound design, installation art, field recording and workshops, his work has been featured in events such as the Adelaide Festival of Arts (2006), The National Regional Arts Festival (2012), Mildura-Wentworth Arts Festival (2013), Fairfax Festival (2013) and Adelaide Fringe Festival (2014); and selected works exhibited at galleries including The Australian Experimental Art Foundation (2009), SASA Gallery (2012, 2015), Light Square Gallery (2012) and FELT Space (2015). His audio works have been broadcast on radio including Radio National, Classic FM, The BBC (UK), Acoustic Frontiers (USA) and RBB (Germany).

Well loved and frequently requested, he is a regular DJ at some of New Zealand’s finest club nights hosted by promoters such as Twin Digits, One Forty Dubz, and Port Dubs Collectives and has played alongside the N8-NZ, Third Eye Hi-Fi, Roots Fire Sound, Big Bada Boom, Drop Beats Not Bombs, Sic Entertainment, and Home Bass Radio crews.

D-Low is also the host of an NZ radio show, 'Dubs with D-Low' on BaseFM 107.3FM (Akl) Freeview Channel 71 (NZ) and has made guest appearances on RDU 98.5FM (Chch), Radio Burger Fuel, Froth Mouth Broadcasting, and Home Bass Radio.

No stranger to festivals either, D-Low has played the stages at festivals including Twisted Frequency, Otherlanz, Dimension, and Earth Beat.
