This song is somewhat different than most of our songs, the music came first, then the lyrics.  That doesn't happen all that often.   Being retired, we're at that age where some of our friends, family and yes spouses have moved on to whatever is next.  This song looks at that.  "Where do they go, I'd love to see them back again.  Where do they go, it seemed so good back then.  Where do they go, I'm left without a clue.  Maybe someday I will go there too."

This is a song I made for a project I'm working on, but since it's my birthday I thought it'd be fitting to post now.
This plays during explanation of a character's backstory. I won't spoil anything, but you can probably guess?
I tried to give a narrative reason for the repetitious Gaster melody. It's like the passage of time with nothing to do, repeating the same thing over and over again.
Consider this another take on 'Cryptogram'.

Steve and I talk about the one-location film, HERE, directed by Robert Zemeckis. HERE is co-written by Zemeckis and Erick Roth and based on a graphic novel by Richard McGuire. It’s a FORREST GUMP reunion with Zemeckis at the helm and Tom Hanks and Robin Wright as co-leads. Other cast members include Paul Bettany, Kelly Reilly, Michelle Dockery, and Nikki Amuka-Bird. 

A movie with an intriguing concept, HERE takes place across centuries at the same geographical coordinates, starting with the time of the dinosaurs. Its nonlinear structure shows seven different families who live there. The scenery and décor changes with the times, and each family experiences their home differently.  

Here makes generous use of generative AI to de-age its characters. We talk about that choice, as well as the choices each of these families make. Truth be told, neither of us liked this movie too much, but we always enjoy our conversations, and we think you will, too. I'm an independent songwriter with a bit of a voice looking for my best song in the world....
I compose in my small basement, which I've converted into a hobby studio between the heating and water supply. So don't be surprised. The sound comes from Cubase, my PC, and a palette of guitars from Fender to Gibson, Yamaha, Takamine, and Avantone's Red Mike.

Songwriting has been a lifelong passion for me, dating back to elementary school when I first began crafting stories, poems, and eventually lyrics. As a former drummer in various bands, I always relied on others to bring my words to life musically. However, after a long hiatus from drumming, I decided to take the leap and learn to compose music to accompany my lyrics. Through classes and dedication, I've embarked on a new journey, breathing fresh life into old lyrics and penning new ones. You'll find a mix of older and newer works here. Especially for some of the lyrics. 

Music has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is being completely entranced by 'The Little Drummer Boy' as a very young child. There was something about the rhythm and the melody that just captivated me. I must have played it a thousand times, wearing the record out, and from that moment on, I was hooked. I knew I wanted to be a drummer and to create that magic for others. 

But I was too young then, and of course, I couldn't afford a drum set just yet. So, I turned to writing as a way to express myself. As I mentioned above, I started with stories, then poems, and eventually, lyrics. I found that writing was not only a way to tap into my creativity, but also a way to process my emotions and experiences. 

As I grew older, my love for music only deepened. I realized that music has this incredible power to transport us to different times and places, to evoke emotions and memories that we thought were long forgotten. It's a universal language that can bring people together like nothing else can. 

For me, writing lyrics is a cathartic experience. It's a way for me to tap into my emotions, to process the world around me, and to create something that I hope will resonate with others. And when I hear my words come to life in a song, it's truly magical. It's a feeling that never gets old, and it's what keeps me coming back to music time and time again. 

I love many genres of music and artists of many genres. And if you listen to some of my songs, you will find that I like to make songs of different genres as well as mix different genres into each song. One of my all-time favorite bands is Evanescence, and I have made a lot of songs where I have tried my best to emulate that sound. 

Now, I have recently started experimenting with new sounds. I never heard of glitch beats before I took music classes, and now I'm fascinated with the sound, so I have been experimenting with glitch beats recently.

You found us!  3 retired guys with nothing better to do than write and record music together.   We live thousands of miles apart, but manage somehow.  We are intense about the lyrics and their quality.  If the music and actual performance sounds a bit like 3 retired guys sitting around in a living room having fun, it's because that's exactly what's going on here.  Oh, the 4th guy in the pic, is our friend Mike, who played fiddle with us some on the day that pic was taken.  And yes, 2 of us are cousins who grew up 2000 miles apart, and the third is a brother from a different Mother.  We're not trying to be a "band".
