Tonight we’re listening to the first great Miles Davis Quintet, featuring some of the finest jazz musicians of all time: Miles Davis on trumpet, John Coltrane on tenor saxophone, Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums. These albums, recorded live in the studio over just two sessions, represent the pinnacle of the hard bop era and remain an essential part of jazz history.
