11 November 24 2024 The Blessing of Persecution

We don't have to wait for the formal beginning of the seven-year tribulation period to experience real persecution because we follow Jesus Christ.  Many Christian around the world are being martyred now.  And it's going to get much worse.  We need to know how to stand firm in the face of opposition to our Christian faith.  The example of Peter and John in Acts 4 is very valuable for us.

Le catholique Jimmy Lai, accusé de conspiration, encourt la prison à vie. Il aurait diffusé des publications jugées séditieuses via son journal Apple Daily. Laurence Bolomey parle de cette répression qui touche notamment les chrétiens avec Tobias Brandner, pasteur zurichois, aumônier de prison à Hong-Kong.

1 Thessalonians 3:9-13

Over 360 million Christians are currently being persecuted world wide. That's 1 out of every 7 Christ followers walking this globe. Persecution is nothing new. In fact, Jesus faced intense persecution, & warned His disciples that they'd endure the same. Join us for our sermon "Help Is On the Way," from John 16:1-11, where we'll hear about His remedy for the incoming persecution of Believers.

The message of these verses is that the believer in Christ is sustained by a glorious hope. He is sustained “in the midst of trials by the prospect of the future deliverance and inheritance of the sons of God” . The sons of God currently suffer, but they will be manifested to all the world and publicly vindicated in great glory. The sons of God, by the indwelling Spirit, experience a measure of liberation already in this life, but they also possess the glorious hope of complete liberation at the resurrection. Yes, we labour and suffer in this vain and fallen world, but let us remember that “the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us”. 


SUSTAINED IN THIS FALLEN AND HOSTILE WORLD  BY OUR GLORIOUS HOPE (Romans 8, v18-23)

Someone told me recently that the Jewish people are a cursed people, and that is why they have been so persecuted.  He also said that, they being cursed is why they are always involved in world conflicts.  What can I say to him?
