Diệp: Hi guys, welcome to our podcast! I’m Diệp, and here is my teammate Giáng My.  It's almost time for us to take the 2nd-semester end-of-term exam. Time flew by so quickly, we hadn't got enough time to spend with each other yet. We’re both so busy with homework and self-study. Every day, my alarm clock wakes me up. However, sometimes I wasn’t in the mood to go to school. Why? Because when I was going to school, the pressure covered me. I always needed to achieve high scores on my exam even though I wasn’t good enough. I believe that not only me and Giang My,  but also other students are being scolded for bad grades every day. And that’s what makes us all feel hurt and stressed, with many negative thoughts. My parents expected all of my scores would get 10 when I was in elementary school. But that’s not what I want, this is beyond my level, although my scores are very good. This is a problem that almost every student has encountered or is encountering. And that’s why I’m here, to talk about study pressure and what we can do to overcome this problem.
My: Study pressure is the stress and fatigue that people encounter in the learning process. In other words, academic pressure is too much studying for students' health balance, causing stress and leading to some severe mental disorders. What causes study pressure? Some people think that: pressure comes from our parents, because they expect too much from our scores, although it isn’t caused by your parents. The reason is you don’t control your learning time, spend time taking a break after studying hard, and always torment yourself when you have bad grades. Study pressure gives students a variety of negative effects, including ill health, depression, and poor academic performance. The learning process will only be efficient if students are willing to learn and are happy to follow their goals.
Diep: If you get too much pressure from studying, here are some tips for you: First, split your notebook in half - On the left half, you could write down all thoughts that are limiting and keeping you down, and on the other half, you could put questions to challenge whether those thoughts are subjectively true. Next, see your mistakes as an experience. All successful people - such as Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg, learned from their failures rather than from their success. Finally, create a study plan. Having a visualized study plan will help you track your studying progress and focus on what needs to be done. Additionally, it’ll help you avoid procrastination, which is your number one enemy when you need to get things done. Your study plan should also consider every commitments and activities you have, like exercise, work, social gatherings, and any other daily routine of yours. Contrary to what people believe, being successful in studying doesn’t mean neglecting all other aspects of your life, it just means you have to be organized.
Make sure to check your study plan regularly—update it accordingly with what you’ve already done, what needs to be done or revised, and any new goals you want to achieve. Lastly, if you have a job but feel you’ll need extra time for study, be sure to talk to your employer as early as possible.
