I was teaching a songwriting class where we explored different forms of expression, what to write about, and how to use real-life experiences to create stories that connect with listeners. Suelyn was inspired by the workshop and came in the next day with a written poem. We recorded it several times, reconstructing and adding new ideas as we went, shaping it into the final track together.

Suelyn is a 14-year-old creator who has been part of Notes for Notes for about four years. She has grown passionate about using audio and podcasting as a way to express her thoughts, emotions, and perspectives. Her love for storytelling shines through everything she creates, making her a strong and thoughtful young voice in the studio.

Inspired by the original poem Moon Doves, Sun Owls, this piece unfolds like a ritual at the top of a lighthouse—a meeting place between night and day, grief and blessing, human sorrow and star-born light.

White doves summoned by moonlight, owls guided by the sun, arrive bearing the tears of the world and fragments of celestial spells. Through chant and breath, they join the speaker in weaving light into sorrow until knots dissolve in brightness.

It is a meditation, a healing, and a small myth — an invitation to enter the highest chamber of the inner lighthouse and meet the winged messengers of your own soul.

Imitation of Life

“Hueco” is a short poem I wrote in Spanish about the emptiness that follows losing someone you love. It’s my way of honoring my grandpa—my memories with him, the lessons he left behind, and the space he still holds in my heart.

I’ve been making music and been in bands since I was in school. I’ve always loved watching people enjoy listening, dancing and singing to the music. I feel that music is first and foremost about enjoyment. It should evoke an emotion, whatever the artist is trying to convey. 

My musical tastes are quite eclectic and varied. I tend to enjoy a song rather than a specific group or genre. And I guess this is why what I produce goes along with that ethos of variety 

Recently I’ve felt compelled to focus my time on creativity. Loss and the brevity of life have made me understand life is too short. So here I am. I hope you enjoy!
