Gratitude Re-Circulator (An Invention)

Hey, Kelly, just wanted 
to say I miss you, miss 
your smile. Four years 
is an awful long while t
o be away from 
a daughter no matter 
where you go, or how, 
or how far. 

As you can see, I got 
your call. Sorry it took 
awhile to reply. You die and you think That’s 
it, it’s done, but then 
a little light gets in, and there’s joy. Y’know? 

You’ve forgiven and 
moved on, and I’m no 
engineer anymore, but I co-designed this 
gratitude re-circulator. 
Guess that’s what poets 
and musicians are for. 

I hear you have new 
instruments, too, new 
schematics, anyway. 
We take what work 
a lifetime will allow, 
and it doesn’t really 
matter how, but a father 
loves to hear a daughter 
play. So, play! 

That’s all I’ve got to 
say, for now. Glad 
you’re home. Kiss 
your mom. Nobody 
stays long mad.

“You didn’t know you would need this poem”

i dont belong on earth. but i wrote a poem about it just now. here it is.


walkin on this path to nowhere
a mountain in the distance, but i dont think i can climb there
stuck in the muck, with the puddles in the pot holes
tryna walk forward wit my lost soul
hustlins just livin another day
i couldnt make a dark cloud rain if its flooded condensate
n a blue sky smiles at the misery i face
the sun laughs wit the people who hate
but despair of the storms as it spews
thunder wit a short fuse sick of bein mute
lettin it out, n it dont care its outta tune
harmony is the way the beautiful can hide the truth with a facade
but appearances are shallow
the battles never pretty, so im dancin with my shadow
make the off beat and off pitch melodies louder
this unpaved path, that nobody walks but the mudslide
the crust of the earth dies n lets out a cry as it falls
n splashes in the water below
an island of hope rises where im dyin alone
the only piece of the earth where im accepted
the last slice in the fridge that im left with
rejected by the sunshine rainbows and butterflies
face in the mud i lie
down covered in the dirt of my off beat lullabies
puttin myself to sleep, on the side of the mountain
they was clownin my frownin so the misery i drowned in
downed it with a bottle of fears
im all ears to the sound of the tears
the silence of defeats cuz theres nothin left in here

i dont make "music" to sound good. i make music cuz i have to express myself the only way i can. i dont know what good music is or how to make good music. so just doing improvisations of my poems and journals here. some of my writings are memorized so they come out better. others im reading them so it sounds choppy and weird, im not a good reader. some of my songs are here.

I make weird music for weird people… 
Obviously.

Primarily, I am a published poet who is active in the Sacramento poetry scene.
I use Ableton to craft my beats and sounds.
I also play guitar, bass, drums and some keys. I am not a singer, but I do write songs. 

My goal is to make clear as day the visceral emotions life has shown me, to honor healing, to promote play, to flirt with your senses, to seduce your activism, and encourage your own creativity!!!

I am a long term recovering addict who has survived homelessness. I am a survivor of childhood trauma. I am a drug counselor aspiring to become a licensed therapist or open my own recovery home.

I believe wholeheartedly that music heals.

I keep most of my demos private, but you can message me with requests to hear them!!!
