When remixing one of my biggest musical influences, I had a random thought that led me to creating this remix: ‘What if you were to blend Plunderphonics with Jazz Improvisation?’ Hope you enjoy the finally finished version of the track, sampling the great George Duke.

Solos were performed on Rhodes emulations, Yamaha DX Reface Keytar and J&D Short Scale Jazz Guitar.

I've always loved the animation, creativity and the amazing James Brown inspired soundtrack by John Powell ever since its release during my childhood. And of course, who could forget Robin Williams' hilarious improv!  I hope I've captured the film's comedy, heart and imagination.

Composed mainly using sounds from the film's soundtrack, sound fx, vocals and dialogue. Composed also using overdubs of 8 String Ukuleles, Electric Guitars, Electric Basses, Fretless Guitars, Virtual Electric Keyboards and a lot of James Brown vinyl samples.

Rust

Here’s an Electro-House Remix of the Australian animated series: ‘Bluey’, I’ve been working on. This show has made quite an impression on the internet over the past couple years hasn’t it!

Though I don’t get into the show as many others, I can still sense the creativity, heart and likability of all the likeable characters, clever writing, unique soundtrack and its beautiful animation. Makes me wish I grew up with something like this as a kid.

Also composed with additional synthesisers, virtual piano, ukuleles, acoustic guitars, electric guitars, zither harp, trumpets, accordion and of course: melodica!

Here's a mysterious Drum 'n' Bass remix of 'Professor Layton and The Eternal Diva' (2009).

Inspired by the mystery of the film's complicated plot, I decided to insert a bit of a mystery into the song's use of modal harmony and inverted baselines; thus creating a haunting texture that underlines the warm and breathy vocals and samples. 

I'm not really an anime fan, and I never really got the chance to play the games in full; but I love the influences the film has from Tintin to Sherlock Holmes and I think I've done my best at capturing the film's adventurous tone.

Composed with samples from the film's vocals, dialogue, soundtrack and sound fx, and samples from my track 'Transcend'.

Ambrosia

With talks of Artificial Intelligence taking over jobs, I decided to revisit an old favourite of mine; and I realised how well the story of this classic holds up!

This film changed the course of cinema with its groundbreaking use of primitive but creative CGI special effects, electronic music and creating an entire mythology that formed a huge cult following. I would even go as far in saying that it created the synth wave aesthetic we all go crazy for today!

Composed entirely with dialogue and sounds from Tron (1982) and samples from 'Switched On Bach' I & II (1968, 1972). Apart from the vocoders, this includes everything from the synths to the drums and effects. I really decided to do the film's sound design justice! The synths were generated using granular synths or heavy use of EQ and further processing.

The Grid

Because of an editing mistake when editing some vocal samples; the lyrics were often misheard as ‘home again’. I decided to run with this theme and it eventually turned into a track I really feel personal about.

'(You're Always) Welcome Home' samples from 4 movies/tv series that tackle different aspects of the theme of being home; whether it's from a long perilous journey, waiting for someone to return home, looking for a place to call home, or even running away from home. All in all, we're all human, and you're always welcome home no matter what you've done, or whatever you're going through in life.

This track was composed using instrumental and vocal samples from ‘Balto’ (1995) ‘Bluey’, (2018 - ) ‘Paddington’ (2013) and Inside Out (2016), and also features vocal and instrumental samples from Debarge, Russ Taff, The Temptations, The Midnight records. 

The video is done, but you may have to wait as I’m working on an album release which features this track and many others so watch this space!
