Hamburg’s Polycarp Records delivers the ‘Never Ever’ EP by Bonn this January, backed with remixes from Johannes Albert and The Cruiser. The Polycarp Records imprint was launched in 2016 by Simon Ferdinand and across its past ten releases has unveiled an array of material from the likes of Pleasant Systems boss Tilman, Frank Music founder Johannes Albert and Simon Ferdinand and Basch both under their own artist names and of course their collaborative project, Bonn. In 2019 Ferdinand and Basch inaugurated their Bonn guise with a debut album entitled ‘Forget Forgot Forgotten’, 2021 saw the release of a follow up EP entitled ‘Ravenous’ and here the story continues with the pair’s latest collaborative works.
The original mix of title-track ‘Never Ever’ opens the EP and lays down crunchy, off-kilter drums alongside mystical atmospherics, an unfurling acid bass lead and loopy, fluttering stab sequences. Johannes Albert’s twist on ‘Never Ever’ follows next, the fellow German producer takes things down his signature cosmic, nu- disco path via bubbling arpeggio lines and 80’s tinged resonant leads melded together with fragments from the original composition.
‘Phero’ then opens the flip side and sees Bonn deliver a twitchy house workout fuelled by fidgety synth bleeps, dubbed out chords and bumpy, saturated drums. Last up to round things out, The Cruiser turns in a high- octane interpretation of ‘Phero’, upping the tempo and reshaping the original’s raw elements into a murky, dynamically unfolding thumper.

Step into cinematic electronica with Polycarp boss Simon Ferdinand's latest creation, the 'Six Months' EP. Born from a journey spanning Sicily, Baltimore, and Zanzibar, this musical odyssey encapsulates the essence of his travels and experiences. 

Today, we're excited to premiere 'Broken,' the lead track from the EP. 'Broken' sets the stage with its enigmatic fusion of hazy, glitched-out jazz loops, expertly obscured and processed throughout. Ferdinand's masterful manipulation of loops and tapes ensures a constant element of surprise, never allowing for a moment of predictability. With a nod to the experimentalism and minimalism of Jan Jelinek's early 2000s work, 'Broken' creates a similar depth and complexity, showcasing a unique playfulness of sound manipulation.

The 'Six Months' EP will debut on vinyl on March 22, followed by a digital release on May 9.

Bonn return to Polycarp Records this December with more of their unique twist on electronica, house and techno with the ‘XIIX’ EP.
Hamburg, Germany’s duo Simon Ferdinand and Basch better known under their Bonn guise have individually and together been delivering soul-infused electronic music over the past decade, predominantly via their own Polycarp Records. Here the pair return once again with a new three-track, once again showcasing the depth and dynamism of their production prowess.
Leading the EP is ‘Son Air’, a tripped out journey traversing through glitchy broken percussion, spoken word vocals, dreamy synth chimes and elongated subs before the latter half of the compositions works in a heavy breakbeat drum workout and rave stab sequence.
‘Phase 2 Face’ then showcases the duo’s deeper side, fusing bumpy toms, sturdy kicks and shuffled hats with ethereal textures, boomy low end tones and airy synth chimes. The aptly titled ‘Tension’ then rounds out the release, a subtly blooming, cinematic groove fuelled by an intricate rhythm section, weighty subs, choppy chords and vacillating atmospherics throughout.

Basch is a Hamburg based DJ, producer, and core part of the Polycarp Records roster, over the years he’s carved out a reputation for deep, driving sounds that bridge the worlds of house, techno, ambient and experimental. As one half of the duo Bonn, alongside Simon Ferdinand, he’s delivered a series of acclaimed releases, blending atmospheric textures with raw, club- focused rhythms. His solo work as Basch and Jean-Crémant for Johannes Albert’s Frank Music has also garnered attention from media and DJ’s alike. His growing catalogue that reflects both innovation and versatility has earned him recognition across Europe’s underground and established his standing as a dynamic force within contemporary electronic music.
POLYCARP RECORDS : ‘’With Forever Jan Pt. 1, Hamburg / Berlin-based producer Basch opens the vault on two decades of music-making, bringing together six tracks written and recorded between 2005 and 2025. The material comes from a personal “lost and found” of nearly 50 sketches — fragments rediscovered on old hard drives, MP3s from long-gone sessions, and live recordings from makeshift setups. Each track carries its own history: a piece started on a cracked Reason 3 during a flight from Oslo; an early Hamburg live set held together by a synth demo that crashed every five minutes; a song revived from nothing but a low-bitrate MP3; and a 2005 video edit faithfully recreated, glitches and all. For this release, some arrangements were rebuilt, drums replayed on an 808, and soft synths replaced by analog gear. Mastering by Stefan Eichinger aka Lopazz ties the years together into a single, coherent listen — less a traditional album, more a snapshot scrapbook of 20 years in sound. Compiled by Simon Ferdinand. The release also comes as a strictly limited cassette edition, each tape individually hand-stamped and available only in small numbers.
